Missing Hired Claw > Stadium Headliner

I made this cube nearly a decade ago and since have aggressively pushed the traditional limits of cube design (hence "Unlimited Cube").

As the years go on, however, I've realized that I actually hate the gameplay in this cube. I've eschewed cards like Sol Ring for their poor play patterns but have included cards like Forth Eorlingas!, which upon further reflection, doesn't really make sense.

So I've decided to split this cube into two. One version will become a powered version of this cube that inherits the "fuck it, we ball" persona of this cube--Limitless Cube.

The other (which this cube will become) seeks to optimize the gameplay experience. This is primarily accomplished by removing cards that are too powerful (Broadside Bombardiers), those with annoying mechanics (Palace Jailer), or those that I just find unfun (Mother of Runes).

This new, gameplay focused cube has actually existed in paper for quite some time, and I much prefer it to the old version.

With that said, a ton of adds and cuts! I am doing this using the CSV upload function, so you won't be able to see specific cuts and adds.

Have tried this card out in other contexts and I like it quite a bit. Glasspool Mimic has been very underwhelming.

Are you running any changes on Saiba Syphoner for it to work on paper?

Not much here in terms of power level. Maybe some others will emerge as other folks online playtest. Mosswood Dreadknight could be good, but not currently what GB does in this cube.

Gavin Verhey regularly makes playtest cards for release during limited events. I have no issues playing these cards. He did one for Commander Masters that includes this gem:

Delve too Deep

This card is excellent (perhaps too good), but I'd love to try it out. Plus I found some sweet art that references my favorite scene from Lord of the Rings.

Going to try 4x cloudpost and park map to support. Blink has felt pretty underpowered, so trying to boost it with a package to consolidate.

  • I need to accept that Kitchen Finks is bad. Sorry bud.
  • Chart a Course hasn't really been needed. It's nice in the Arclight Phoenix deck, but so is Sleight of Hand.
  • I've been really frustrated in finding a good green 4 drop. I've realized that the best option is a singleton break on a sweet three.
  • Lutri, the Spellchaser is kind of broken, but I've seen it in a few cubes and it's worse than I thought.

I'm not against playing cards like these, so here we go!

Cabaretti Revels is a sweet card, but I often found myself stretched on 4 mana creatures (which are often Planeswalkers in the midrange decks).

So I'm trying out a version that allows you to cascade with Planeswalkers. Suspect it might be too powerful, but better to use a hammer than miss to start.

Some slight changes, increasing the complexity of the cube.

Intrepid Adversary > 2x Staff of the Storyteller

I really really like the design of Staff of the Storyteller. It encourages unique build-arounds and gameplay. I am worried, however, that it is not good enough. Making this a draft package encourages folks to take the card so we can see how it plays. If it's too strong, we'll scale back (although it can't possibly be stronger than 2x Monastery Mentor)

Twinshot Sniper > Invasion of Tarkir

A few folks online have been singing the praises of battles. I like them in theory, but worry that they aren't strong enough. This one seems like the strongest, and I know how Twinshot plays, so the testing cut seems natural.
