Cube Updated - Automatic Post
UPDATE 2/26/2025
Drafted among 10 players this past weekend, and had a BLAST with the newest iteration of it. Games felt super balanced, one game ended by decking, another ended by winning with zero cards left in their library and casting Storm of Souls to bring back Whip Sergeant and Sunscape Master for a lethal 3/3 army. Could not be happier.
They did have some feedback though!
OUT | IN | WHY |
---|---|---|
Mist Dragon | Pristine Angel | Mist Dragon was basically unkillable. You needed Split Second removal, or its controller needed to WANT it dead. I've replaced it with another reasonably-hard-to-remove creature of the same stats, but it's much easier to remove. |
Metathran Aerostat | Destructor Dragon | A player drafted Metathran Aerostat and asked "Wait, can't I just hold priority and activate this a bunch of times to dump my hand?" and it turns out they were right! Not how I intended it to work, so I replaced it with a more reasonable card that I just got a misprint of. |
Elspeth, Sun's Nemesis | Grist, the Hunger Tide | I originally looked at Elspeth After Dark and thought that with abilities as small and unimpactful as hers, she would be fine. After playing with her, the fact that Escape doesn't count as your spell for the turn is OPPRESSIVE. So I'm replacing her with a planeswalker that can be recurred easily, but not quite that easily. |
Fevered Suspicion | Reversal of Fortune | There was some confusion whether the additional spell counted as your spell for the turn, negating the intended use. Rather than clear up this confusion every time, I thought I'd replace it with something similar that's much more clear. |
Artistic Refusal | Memory Lapse | Originally I thought this card read "Choose one", not "Choose one or both". That is a huge difference in power level, so I'm replacing it with another counterspell to bring that slot in line with the rest of the cube. |
