Ulgrotha - Homelands (4th edition) cube.Completion: 100%
2-player cube on a remote part of the multiverse.
Greetings! This cube is part of an old school magic project. The idea is very simple, make use of the cards from the earliest
expansions (I'm actually not that interested in Arabian Nights and will skip that one for now). In design the first rule (beside
the obvious make the most fun player experience possible) is to utilize all cards from the set or sets. After careful analysis I
came up with the following divisions:Homelands is paired with fourth edition (the current set at release) as a smaller 2-3 player
cube.https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/ulgrotha [https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/ulgrotha]Antiquities, The Dark and Fallen
empires are all taking place lore wise after the Brothers war in Terresiare and Sarpadian continent respectively and are paired
with Revised.https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/theantiquitieswar [https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/theantiquitieswar]
Lastly, Legends are large enough together with Revised for a little special multiplayer cube. The second rule is to include cards
from the paired edition that have not been reprinted in any block (so that it finds its home) to either cubes in the old school
project. This should be done in terms of theme and artwork and flavour and functionaltogether.Third rule: make sure that the
included set themes are playable by adjusting card counts and the inclusion from the core set.
Design: All artwork from original print is included. Certain cards from 4th edition and the card count have been increased to
ensure playabilty of the Homelands themed archtypes and tribes.
Additonal house rules.Headstone - change the first sentence to read. Exile target card from a graveyard and remove from the
controlling players card pool.Timmerian fiends - The change of ownership of the Ante card means adding the card the that players
card pool. Thus, the card the player looses ownership for game 2 or 3.Apocalypse chime - Consider all cards (except basic lands)
from the cube to be from the homelands expansion. Hence it reads effectively: (3)T:Sacrifice Apocalypse Chime: Destroy all
nontoken permanents except basic lands. They can't be regenerated.
Draft recommendations:Designed for 2 or 3 player Best of 3, Grid draft (draft 18 grids). 82% of the cube is seen.Take 19 grids for
3 players.
Recommendations:Note in the blog which creature types are warrior/soldier or birds.Due to the higher mana curve, games become
longer and early lands are usually not an issue. I suggest running 16 lands as a standard, hence.Oldschool mtg cards means that
having gatherer ready may speed up a few card rulings. Also read into the current rule text of banding (it really isn't as
difficult as some of us may remember).
Similar effect and green sorceries otherwise missing in Antiquities war
