Neon Dynasty Masters [Planebound Cube]
A cube with Kamigawa Neon Dynasty as a base but expanding the themes out to older Kamigawa sets as well as sets with adjacent themes such as Double Masters, Theros Beyond Death, and so on. All the fun of Neon Dynasty with some of the history of old Kamigawa.
Every color is finds itself on various parts of the artifact versus enchantment spectrum, their places on the spectrum are as follows:
Artifacts — Enchantments
- - - -
Primarily, colors all care about artifacts somewhat, while all five colors care about enchantments somewhat, though barely care about them.
The format has a variety of themes that are found grouped in various color combinations:
- Cares about Historic (Legendaries, artifacts, and sagas) with a primary focus on artifacts and has a minor vehicles theme and a minor blink theme.
- Ninjas and Ninjutsu with a minor Historic and ETB (enters the battlefield) theme.
- Sacrificing artifacts and creatures, a primarily artifacts-based color combination. "Steal and sac" as a strategy is supported.
- Cares about Modifications (Counters, auras, and equipment) and getting value from payoffs. A bit more buffed than in NEO by adding more aura and counters support.
- Cares about Sagas and enchantments, blinking and bouncing Sagas for value, with a minor auras theme.
- Cares about Legendaries and having both artifacts and enchantments. A very flexible color that focuses on high-rate cards.
- Plays a critical mass of artifacts and goes wide with them.
- Focuses on graveyard recursion and Sagas for maximum value.
- Big equipment theme with a very minor "attacking alone" subtheme that supports the Warriors and Samurai creature types.
- Channel value with a small enchantment subtheme.
Broader individual themes are as so:
- Major fixing color, though artifact decks will have access to more artifact-specific fixing.
- Spirits and soulshift, with good bestow Spirits and Soulshift to get them back.
- Sacrifice matters (tied to treasures), though all colors have some kind of sacrifice theme.
- Shrines, there's three cycles of powerful shrines in the cube that are intended to be drafted together.
- Legendaries matter, there's a variety of cards that pay you off for playing legendary creatures, the most notable ones being Jodah, the Unifier, Reki, the History of Kamigawa, and Arvad the Cursed.
There are also a couple minor typal themes:
- Warriors and Samurai
- Ninjas and Rogues
- Spirits
- Zuberas
- Rats
- Snakes
The cube encourages splashing and playing more colors with the indestructible Bridge cycle from Modern Horizons II and various fixing artifacts from Neon Dynasty. The themes are just guideposts here, there are a variety of effects that allow you to do completely different decks in completely different color combinations.
In terms of artifact/enchantment removal:
has access to both artifact and enchantment removal, but has a greater focus on removing enchantments.
cannot remove either, but has some means of answering specific artifact types such as Equipment or Vehicles. Also has access to Annul which effectively answers both.
has access to very limited enchantment removal.
has access to powerful artifact removal but has zero to none ways of interacting with enchantments
has access to powerful artifact and enchantment removal.
A few cards have been modified to better match the themes of the cube. They're tagged "Errata" in the cube list.
