Banlist Explanations:

Gut, True Soul Zealot

Gut has proven to be an incredibly powerful and hard to deal with threat in this cube format. While Gut provides no protection to itself from immediate, instant-speed removal, we have noticed that almost any time it isn't answered on the turn it comes down, it wins the game very quickly afterwards.
While not a direct comparison, I liken the power level of this creature to that of Palace Jailer, whom I consider to be in contention for the strongest creature in peasant cube.

When I make design decisions in my cube, I do not shy away from overtly powerful cards - quite the contrary! Strong cards are almost always fun cards. To top that off, my "mission statement" with my cube is to have one of the most powerful Peasant lists that exist (within balance reasons). Banning cards is not something I do unless I feel the cube will be better off for it. In Gut's case, it was warping red decks simply by it's existence, while also providing too small of a window of reaction before becoming overwhelming. For these reasons, I have made the decision to ban Gut.

Curse of Predation

Those of you who follow my list closely will know that I originally banned CoP without having tested it, simply because I knew most peasant cubers also had it banned. However, in my most recent major update, I decided to bring it out and see how powerful it really could be. As discussed above, I like to know for a fact that cards are worth banning.

CoP proved to be quite a dominant effect on the battlefield, and much like Gut it was beginning to warp green decks around its existence. I feel like +1/+1 counter decks are powerful enough "snowball-style" decks on their own and do not need the assistance of CoP to be considered viable contenders, and cards like Sylvan Library already provide green decks with incredibly powerful effects to choose from. For these reasons, I have decided to ban Curse of Predation.
