Commons can make Thopters now. No big deal.
Makes instant speed counterspells better and more playable, and costs one less mana.
On theme too. Does a similar thing in terms of card advantage, just colorless, and an artifact.
Bomat just doesn't work when your mana curve doesn't top off at 2.
Given the fact Thriving Rats was added now, I think we have enough 2 drops in the common slot to warrant two 2 uncommon aggro drops. The main issue I have with Fretwork Colony is it's only good on turn 2 or 3, and unplayable anytime else. This makes it a bad cube card. Ovalchase Daredevil needed to go in no matter what, so I'll make this swap.
If Sly Requisitioner needs to come out, Fretwork Colony will go back in.
This just makes sense, Makes the mana curve for red way more smooth. 7 3 mana plays in red is too many, and Spontaneous Artist is the more interesting card.
Implement of Malice seems to do something similar to Mind Rot, while being more mechanically interesting and enabling Revolt. It's the worst common in black in the set, and balancing the curve a bit with a decent common seems like a better inclusion. If I go up one more common, it needs to be a non-creature spell.
Preemptively, the cards we'd add are:
Caught in the Brights
Hightide Hermit/Bastion Inventor
Spontaneous Artist
Tidy Conclusion
Prey Upon
Honestly certain decks want the energy and life gain, and with all the blink effects I want to reinclude it.
Maybe consider doing a mix but at this point might as well run the full cycle of Thriving cards, especially if Green gets thriving Rhino.
Not in the original cube, only green and blue got Thriving cards. I assume this was to slow down the format a bit.
Note that this bumps up the uncommon total by one compared to the original cube on MTGA.
Still on the fence about adding Prey Upon.
This is to fix the curve a little bit for blue. Blue needs more 3 drops.
