I'm shifting black more toward value and away from aggro. R/W dominate that space, so I like keeping black as a utility color that can better boost midrange/control decks.
Making a big swap to support an interesting Rakdos artifact aggro build which was discussed on a recent Too Sweet MTG episode. There's minor artifact support in other colors, so I'm interested to see if this also unlocks some additional decks.
Swapping out 0-cost artifacts until the Legends Matter theme is more robust.
Adventures are back! WOE offers quite a few great cards that should stand the test of time, as well as a few tests that are interesting.
Going back to LTR updates - the “legends matter” theme isn’t quite there. A few of the recent cuts as well as cuts in this update reflect this. The package will sit on the sidelines for a little while.
WOE + WCC Cube Additions
I don’t play DFC’s which removes the best aggro 1-drops, so this is my new #2 behind Dauntless Bodyguard. I think it will be more relevant in more games than Usher of the Fallen.
My games are fast so a second Lose Focus that could become Mana Leak or better is fine by me. The recent addition of Spellstutter Sprite also fits perfectly with this.
Flicker was never good enough for me. However, make it instant speed and tack on “draw a 4/4 flyer”; yeah, this seems great.
A blue 1-mana creature for the UR spells deck! It is sometimes a splash.
A great 1-drop with relevancy in a board stall.
Reckless Impulse now at instant speed with a splash creature!
I recently cut Gonti, Lord of Luxury so this is a welcome addition to bring back a “steal” card. It’s also nice fixing on a potential game-ender.
Now the cube has TWO persistent +1/+1 hexproof spells! Not only does the buff persist, but it gives ward 1; this thing is sick.
A more interesting 6-drop and 12 power off 2-mana Flash. I love this card.
I think this will be a new staple.
Another staple, I would cut Porcelain Legionnaire before this.
Other Additions
I like the recursive WB deck with Lurrus of the Dream-Den. This adds more support while still working with other decks.
My initial take on this card was right, it’s busted. I’m brining it back since Glimmer Lens is also back, so the Rebel tokens are less of an issue.
I’m adding one more reanimate spell to increase consistency and updating the big bad target. Archon of Cruelty works better with cards like Sneak Attack and Flash
These cards go in the same deck but Torens works with Collected Company which I love trying to push.
Reduction in curve and another control spell. There’s so many cantrips, a 3-cmc draw spell seems off for the environment now. Fact or Fiction may be on the chopping block, but it’s still a cool enough effect to stick around for now.
White is forming a bit of a “2 of” pattern through second spell, second draw, or second attacking creature triggers. Even though this brings the rebel token back into the cube which I don’t like, I’m going to keep pushing this aggressive variation of white.
