With the added artifact archetype and the release of some good artifacts in recent sets, I decided it was time to increase the size of my artifact section and specifically add more artifact creatures.

I love how the thriving lands have played and the ease of drafting them, so when the Baldur's gates were released, I knew I wanted to fit them in. I am also curious how the vivid lands will play. If most of the fixing lands are mono-color instead of dual-color, I think it will make it much easier to draft the fixing you need.

The basic land and snow types hardly mattered, so I replaced them. I'm also replacing farseek since its main purpose was to fetch the snow duals.

Unfortunately, Boros cycling was a rather parasitic archetype. No other deck wanted the cycling payoffs, and many of the cycling cards were weak enough without payoffs that no other deck took those either. While it was one of my favorite archetypes, it was clear I had to say goodbye.

Luckily, the Boros artifact archetype has gotten a lot of help in the last few sets (and likely in future sets with the phyrexian stuff), and it has some good overlap with the Boros equipment deck, so I decided to give that a try. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs.

I made this cube a few months ago, but college sucked up my time for a while, so it hasn't been messed with since AFR. Luckily, I finally had the time (and money) to put the cube together in physical form!

There are definitely some things which can use improvement. As I was making it, I liked the idea of having Boros cycling as an archetype. Unfortunately, I just have to accept that there isn't enough support for it yet to make it work. I think the deck could be drafted, but it would be risking a trainwreck of a draft for little payoff even if the deck comes together. I will likely be replacing the archetype and overhauling the white and red sections a bit to compensate.

Additionally, Purtagio brought up on a comment in an earlier blog post that the madness archetype is a bit weak. I have to agree. I will try to add support to it and a few other lacking archetypes in the future.

However, I am going to give the cube a bit of time to marinate in the hands of real players for a while before changing anything. After that, I will be back to do a full update; implementing feedback and introducing all the cool cards from the latest sets!

Cheers!

I love the Phyrexian stuff, but the cards are too expensive. Porcelain Legionnaire is cheap, so it survives the axe.
