Played someone else’s cube today and made some trades to help someone else building their own cube. Yay cube!!

These are some of the cards I picked up in trades.

After drafting my cube with humans rather than bots, I confirmed my feelings about my green section not being in a great place.

In an ideal world I think I’d try cards like Six, Bristly Bill and Scythecat Cub… but until those prices come down I’m going to give these a go 😅

I expect there will be more movement in these slots as I find a set I like.

Lots of new cards!

Adeline - I've wanted to pick up an Adeline for a while, but the price was always a little bit too high. The J22 and TDC reprints finally got it low enough that I felt ok grabbing one.

Taking out Council's Judgment after listening to Lucky Paper Radio discussions accessibility and types of interaction... Judgment is cool because it allows White to remove any permanent, but the complexity and inaccessibility isn't worth it.

Narset - isn't as good as she is in most cubes she's in because I don't have any "Draw 7"'s, but I still think her -2 is an interesting build around.

Jace hasn't been good enough for a while, although I am sad to see the CCM "mill" text printing go so soon. Maybe he'll come back in if Garruk Wildspeaker ever gets an M15 frame printing to match.

Barrowgoyf and Pyrogoyf - by having these two both in I think some of the complexity of them gets flattened a bit, and the fact that Pyrogoyf triggers off any Lhurgoyf entering gets that much more interesting. I got to play with Barrowgoyf in another cube recently and I really liked it.

Sad to see FTK and Phyrexian Arena go though :( Both cards from near when I started playing Magic that I've loved for decades.

Hellrider - another card I've liked in cube for a while, but haven't had the chance to pick up until now. Torbran is very similar, but the 2RR vs 1RRR cost is a big upgrade for playability in a world where Rakdos/Gruul/Boros are as common as Monored.

Foundation Breaker - a bit more interesting than Reclamation Sage, especially in a world where Loran of the Third Path exists. Nice to have another Evoke creature alongside Shriekmaw and Mulldrifter.

Sylvan Caryatid - has been on my "desperately needs an M15 frame printing" list for a looong time! I love the combination of its power, toughness and Hexproof.

Elvish Spirit Guide - to be honest I've been struggling to find something to replace Beast Within. My green section feels a bit off somehow. Going to try Elvish Spirit Guide out for a bit, but I suspect I'll swap it again fairly soon.

Sun Titan - "this creature" Oracle text

Lingering Souls - art upgrade

Tasigur - art upgrade and "mill" Oracle text

Chromatic Star - art upgrade and bigger text because no flavour text

On Saturday I was at Cube Clash London II and had a fantastic time drafting cube all day. I drafted Worsnop Vintage Cube twice and Treat Yourself Cube, and I feel like I learned a bunch about cube design talking to all the other players and cube owners.

I didn't actually play any of these cards (I did draft a Prismatic Ending but it was stuck in my sideboard 🥲), but lower curves and more interaction were hot topics.

Looking forward to playing more cube this year!

I felt like I was a bit low on Red twos since cutting Young Pyro for Death-Greeter's Champion.

Magda has been on my maybe list for a while... I don't love that it looks like Dwarf typal when the only way to do that in the entire cube is Mutavault, but it is a great card.

Earthshaker Khenra is a card I've wanted to run purely because of this trivia from Mark Rosewater 😆

Dress Down is a great counter to a bunch of different things, the rules can get a bit complex but I think it's worth a try.

Malcolm could've been a swap for Looter il-Kor as a "like for like", but for now I'm going to try lowering the curve by taking out a 6 drop that wasn't getting much play.

Cryptbreaker is in as a Zombie to make it easier to get value off Gravecrawler.

Sheoldred's Edict is a really cool, flexible removal design. Gonti's been less impressive lately.

Death-Greeter's Champion is a bit complex, but it's really powerful. Young Pyro has felt like a bit of a trap lately.

Pick Your Poison is a great green removal spell. Scute Swarm hasn't done much since I added it.

Hooray for reprints <3 It's wild how much of the cube is from Innistrad.

Cathar Commando - "this creature".

Thraben Inspector - "this creature".

Restoration Angel - "this creature".

Lingering Souls - I don't love the new art, but I want the horizontal dash between rules and flavor text.

Swords to Plowshares - amazing new art! Didn't think I've be swapping the Bloomburrow art out this soon.

Sai, Master Thopterist - new art.

Collective Brutality - "their hand".

Gravecrawler - "this creature" / "this card".

Grave Titan - "this creature" and "enters" and amazing new art.

Murderous Rider - "this creature" and amazing new art.

Faithless Looting - basically identical.

Zealous Conscripts - "this creature" and "enters".

Tireless Tracker - "this creature".

Bloodtithe Harvester - "this creature" and "enters".

Soul-Guide Lantern - "this artifact".

Duplicant - "this creature" and new art.

Inspired by Gavin's random card video from yesterday! https://youtube.com/shorts/sTYM4rjLu-k?si=ogeZ6UAquhAUrbQO

Also, as much as I loved the idea of Channel Fireball being in the cube, I don't think it came together often enough to be worth the space.
