Hi, I'm zephyr and this is my edh cube.
The same as many commander cubes across the internet, this cube was initially brewed after watching the command zones video with Brandon Sanderson one of my favourite authors of all time.
I wanted to build a cube where people got to build decks they would never build from their own cards. This means that I wanted to use a variety of different commanders from different strategies.
The ground rules of drafting this cube:
4 packs of 15
I choose 4 packs of 15 because I wanted the packs to feel similar to a regular draft, while giving the players enough cards to build 60 card decks. My experience with running 20 card packs are that they are too overwhelming as it's hard to track what cards wheel and for newer players there are too many cards to read. This leads to people drafting just cards in their color's over synergy.
60 card decks
I choose 60 card decks to still give the feel of playing a commander game with many cards there is more variance in the deck and you can include all the different categories of cards you would use in a commander deck (ramp, board wipes etc). Every draft I aim to play 2 to 3 games and 60 card decks give that excitement of even in the third game seeing what cool things your opponents decks can do.
Draft commanders as you go
This is a choice that everyone tends to be surprised about when they hear. With the high volume of legendary creatures in this cube it is likely you can find a commander in your colours, this also allows me to support decks like Kethis, the hidden hand and Arvad the bloodcursed. It also makes the drafting more fun in my opinon.
Other rules:
Coulor identity rules are the same as edh
Blessings are custom cards that add the corresponding colour identity to your commander (represented as basic lands in the cube cobra list)
Players start with 30 life, this has help more aggressive strategies become more viable in comparison to regular edh.
