This battle box is designed for new players. As such, it focuses on vanilla, french vanilla, and virtual vanilla creatures (Man-o'-War) with priority given to evergreen mechanics and simple actions, such as returning a creature to its owner's hand. Also, creatures should not be more cost-efficient than classic creatures, such as Wind Drake, which explains why Leonin Skyhunter (2 power and flying for 2) or Vexing Gull (2 power and two keywords for 3) are not present. This battle box also features classic spells, such as Giant Growth; however, this battle box tries to use the "fixed" versions of such cards, such as Cancel over Counterspell. Rares and mythics are acceptable if they are simple. Land destruction, permanent bounce, and mana acceleration are not. Only one copy of a card is allowed, so having both Wall of Omens and Wall of Blossoms is forbidden. All cards must be in the M15 frame for readability.
30 cards per color (150 total)
20 multicolor cards (2 per guild)
10 colorless cards
To play, shuffle the Battle Box and give each player a stack of forty cards. This becomes each player's library. Then, each player draws an initial hand of four cards. From there, the game proceeds like normal except players choose what land to play from a collection of ten lands (one of each basic and one of each allied tap land (Meandering River)).
