"Hum, I'm not trading this one yet, I might need it for a cube I'm working on …"
— Me, every time someone goes through my binders
For the last few years, I've been collecting cards mostly from set drafts and EDH, as I was moving away from the latter lately, I decided to repurpose most of my decks and most of my collection into this cube.
I always liked watching competitive Magic and wanted to recreate a high-power environment with the cards I had in my collection. I love the way cards represent little pieces of history, even out of the context. So while ordering cards, I always search the vendor's page for competitive staples, Pro Tour defining cards or tournament promo versions.
Going forward, I want to be able to include new cards as I collect them, whether it's a new art, a competitive powerhouse, a foil staple or even just testing a rare I liked from a recent set draft. I want this cube to feel like my trade binder, with cards going in and out and being replaced by ones that I value more.
The goal of this cube is to allow players to explore a wide range of synergies between themes. While a lot of classic themes are supported (see below), players should be able to craft their own synergistic decks within the archetype (aggro, midrange, control) and colours that they want to play.
AccessibilityOur playground is very open to new player, as such, I want to have cards that answer to the motto "reading the card, explains the card". I will try to always choose cards with as much reminder text as possible and clear readability.
"To be overly derivative, Cube is about drafting decks, not cards. Have you heard of "BREAD"? Doesn't matter; we're not using it here. Almost every card in the cube looks "good" at face value, so just drafting good cards will not leave you with a deck on-par with the other decks that drafters are building."

So, what decks can you draft in this cube? Here are some key pieces of supported themes.
While some of those themes are deeply supported, some need be combined to fit into an archetype. The "Support" parameter will let you know if a theme can be drafted easily on its own or if you need to be focused on making it happen while drafting.

This cube does not include A+B win-the-game combos as I wanted to have as little "dead cards" as possible in a pack.
Nonetheless, I love combos and wanted to add a few "combo-y" element to the cube. Here is a sample.
"Hum, I'm just going to pay 1 life 19 times to draw 19 cards, maybe that will win me the game."
"This Wall is now an Elf which is now a wordy Beast."
Our playground has been playing mostly best-of-1 for the last few years as we love to play against every drafted deck.
With this cube, I want to introduce best-of-3 in my playground and with it: sideboarding.
Here is a glimpse of the cards that were mostly added with sideboard in mind, but that can be maindecked in the right build.
Primer in progress, to be continued …
Replace or remove cards for better overall comprehension.
If possible, cards should have reminder text of all non-evergreen abilities, be as short and readable as possible, and in english.
