This design is inspired by the sort of feeling I get during chaos drafts that I love - tension. You’re often playing cards that weren’t designed to work together - sometimes competing too hard to use the same resource, sometimes working at odds with each other, sometimes expecting synergy support that just doesn’t exist. I love this tension - trying to resolve it or minimize it in deckbuilding, finding play patterns to optimize the anti-synergies contained in my deck or to exploit my opponents.
This cube attempts to evoke that feeling as best I can. It’s a weird exercise that is sort of designed to feel like it wasn’t designed, at least if I’ve done it correctly. Notes on the format - don’t expect any implied micro-synergy support beyond maybe a handful of other cards that might play nice together. It’s drafted as 3 packs of 13 to try to put some extra tension in getting playables and to force people to play some perhaps suboptimal cards. Also - attempting no tokens or counters, just for a physically-less-stuff thing.
