Thanks for taking the time to read this. This is a big undertaking, and I hope that y’all can find a few minutes to help out.

tl;dr – I made a modular cube, draftable in any 3-color combination; need test drafts in all Shards/Wedges

Disclaimer: all basics are Snow Basics

What the hell is the Slice of Cube?

The Slice of Cube is a 700+ cube meant to be drafted 3 colors at a time. Once it’s been refined, each Shard and each Wedge will have exactly 360 cards. So you pick the one you feel like drafting, and have at it.

Where did this cockamamy idea come from?

The idea for the Slice of Cube started when I noticed people on the sub and in other cube spaces talking about 3-color cubes. I immediately wanted to build at least three different cubes (Sultai, Bant, maybe Esper?). I thought it would be wild to have ten 3-color cubes on a shelf, and you could just pick the one you were in the mood for, and draft it.

But it occurred to me that any of those cubes with red in it, would run cards like Lightning Bolt, Goblin Guide, and Glorybringer – why would you not?! So realistically, it would be easier to smash all those cubed together, cut some of the chaff, and draft it modularly. And the Slice of Cube was born.

How did you build it?

I’ve been working on this cube for a few months, primarily on my stream (twitch.tv/jjthemancub [twitch.tv/jjthemancub]). With the help of my small-but-growing community of cube vagabonds, we’ve managed to find over 750 cards for this monstrosity, and I’ve recently sorted and labeled the cube so that it’s ready for testing. If you’d like to be involved in future Slice of Cube work (or other, even wackier cube projects), head over and drop me a follow.

Why are you telling us about this?

I want your help!

Fine, but I’m just one person, how can I help?

There’s actually a lot of things that would help this project keep moving. The biggest thing is testing. If you have the time and
inclination:

  • Pick a Slice (Shard or Wedge) and draft it. There is a custom draft set up here for each Slice. Feel free to draft it anywhere you’d like, of course. Each Slice has a tag, so you can easily export any given Slice’s list by filtering by Tag.
  • If you have a way to playtest the decks you draft, that’s even better.
  • Send me feedback. You can reply here, or feel free to jump in my discord (link in Twitch profile). The more details the better, but anything is helpful, honestly.
Drafting this sounds awful/I really want to help out even more – now what?

Well thanks for being such a go-getter! Here’s a few things that would be amazing and helpful

  • Share this cube/post with EVERYone. Cube discords, Twitter, spam email lists… any way to amplify this message is hugely appreciated.
  • While you’re at it, follow the cube
  • If drafting is too much, feel free to peruse the list, and give feedback that way. Any observations are helpful.
  • Follow me on Twitch and come chat about the cube next time I’m live. I love having rabid discussions about cube on stream.
  • Jump in my Discord (easiest to find via Twitch profile). I’d love to hear from you about this and other cube stuff!
  • Link me some 3-color cube lists that you think exemplify the concept!
  • Tell me I’m pretty.

D-White redeemed a card demand for the cube, and it was our channel's mascot: Serra Angel!
