Welcome!

A little about myself and why I created this commander cube-
Magic is one of my longest hobbies. I started Magic with a desire to compete at a local level that grew into an ambition to compete on a global level. My relationship with Magic has since evolved into a love for the laughs and tales about unique interactions that only Magic the Gathering can provide. I prefer to play with some of the more powerful cards in Magic, but I am not overly fond of degenerate strategies that 8-10 power level decks can present in Commander so I set out to make 7-8 level decks with an emphasis for fun and engaging games.

Rules and Regulations-
Draft

  1. Shuffle 80 card Commander Pool (marked as Hybrid and tagged with Commander Pool) and randomly put into 10 card packs for a maximum of 8 players. This 10 card pack will be opened first
  2. Shuffle 500 card Commander Cube and randomly put into 20 card packs (3 packs per player) for a maximum of 8 players. If you have 8 players you will be left with 20 cards that will not be used.
  • List ALTERNATIVELY Shuffle 500 card Commander Cube and randomly put into 15 card packs (4 packs per player) for a maximum of 8 players. If you have 8 players you will be left with 20 cards that will not be used. Pack rotation order will be Left-Right-Left-Right but you will only pick One card at a time.
  1. The 10 card Commander Pool Pack is opened first and each player will pick ONE card and pass to their Left. This will continue until all ten cards are picked. 10 cards allows players to diversify and ensure a wide diverse choice pool for the main draft.
  2. The 20 card Commander Cube Packs are then opened and each player will pick TWO cards then pass to their Left until the first pack is done. The second pack is repeated except the players will pass to their Right. The third pack is repeated the same as the first Commander Cube pack with players passing to their Left (pack pass order: Left-Right-Left)
    Deck Construction
  • Minimum Deck Card Count is 60 cards including the Commander (I chose 60 because a majority of my playgroup is familiar with the math and land count averages that come with 60 cards)
  • Commander Color Identity applies the same as Constructed EDH
  • Basic Lands AND Snow Lands are available (snow lands are mostly to allow Field of the Dead to be valid, but also allow me to add in any snow permanents in the future)
    Gameplay
  • 3-5 Player drafts will play in a single game. 6-8 players will result in two separate games that will play at the same time.
  • If you have 6-8 players you can switch up pools after first game has ended.
  • If you have 4 players you can repeat the draft process with the remaining undrafted cards in the cube! Alternatively, if you had an amazing game you can always just shuffle up and play again.
  • Standard Magic The Gathering Rules apply to these games. Players start with 40 Life and Multiplayer rules apply (first player to play draws a card)

These rules are all subject to change according to your playgroup.

Alternative Function for my Commander Cube
I have a problem with keeping Commander decks because I will play a commander once or twice, then dismantle the deck and play a new Commander. This Cube also functions as one big Commander sealed pool. If my friends want to play constructed EDH then I will either make a deck on the spot, or make a deck the night before to play with my friends. Since there are infinite combos I can either make my deck very competitive or make it very Battle Cruiser. I plan to make an excel spreadsheet and fill it with some of my favorite decks that I have made as well as to better hone the power levels of the decks so I can fit whatever playgroup and their decks to maximize fun, however making a deck on the spot is quite fun as of now.
