This is my Battlebox. I am trying to recreate the feel of just playing with a pile of cards you owned, way back in the mid 90s, while also actually having the games be fun and interesting. There are no cards newer than Alliances. Each player takes a chunk of the box for their deck. Doesn’t really matter how much, there are no milling or deck-size-matters cards. You have your own deck and graveyard. You start with four cards from the Box and three basic lands of your choice in your hand, and each turn you can either draw a card from the Battlebox or a basic land of your choice. There is also one City of Brass per player in the lands - if you want to draw a City of Brass instead of a basic land, you can (including in your opener), but you can only have one.

I cut a few mechanics out because they’re pointless or awful - ante, rampage, banding, poison. There’s currently no cumulative upkeep because the vast majority of those cards aren’t good. I also couldn’t come up with an implementation of snow that I liked, and most of those cards are bad too. There’s one card that mentions snow (Woolly Mammoths), but that text just doesn’t do anything.

The Box is completely singleton, EXCEPT for four copies of Mishra’s Factory, one of each season.

There is no power in the Box. I’m not necessarily opposed and I don’t think it’d break anything, but that’s expensive and I’ve already got a ton of money in here. Stuff like Tabernacle is also fine but currently out of my price range.
