Themes and Mechanics

All of the mechanics showcased in this demi-cube should be familiar to drafters of the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth set.

The Ring Tempts You

"I will take The Ring to Mordor!"

"Rowan, you gotta stop volunteering for a heroic quest every time we go on a field trip!"

The Ring Tempts You played out fantastically in LTR limited, rewarding legendary synergies, smoothing hands, encouraging attacking, and making 1 drops into legitimate threats. As many tempt effects as possible are included here, and they show up in all colours.

Food

"Ugh, Quint, how can you think of your stomach at a time like this?"

"At least it's better than Ms. Asmo's cooking."

The Food deck wasn't too impressive in LTR limited, but that may be a different story when you've got an Academy Manufactor backing it up. Found mostly in g/w with the faintest dabbling in b. There's no free sac outlet for Cauldron Familiar to go infinite with Samwise Gamgee, but they're still pretty good with a Dina, Soul Steeper in your deck.

Legendary Matters

"Everybody here has such rich histories! Fascinating!"

Many of the best cards in LTR are legends. The actual legendary payoffs are not that common, but they are powerful if you can hit them. And cards like Great Hall of the Citadel make it easier to splash your friends into your deck.

Amass Orcs

"Man, these guys are way less chill than Rootha."

br was unquestionably the strongest archetype in LTR limited, largely due to the depth of its commons and uncommons. While those cards are still here, there's lots of powerful rares to hopefully bring the other colours up.

Scry Matters

Another deck that wasn't too impressive in LTR limited, ug scry elves has been pared down to its better components. Try to grab a Temple of Mystery to go with it!

Spellslinger

Gandalf's ur spells should pair quite nicely with Rootha's.
