People of Kaladesh!

Kaladesh is a great world-building success of Wizards of the Coast. A plane which is an amalgam of magical steampunk and aesthetics of India. As far as Magic planes go it's a high-tech low-magic one. Artificers, clockwork and robots are everywhere, and while all of this is powered by magical Aether, not steam or oil, actual magicians (such as Chandra, who hails from here) were rare. The plane featured in its own block of two sets, a remaster of this block in Magic Arena and in numerous cameos during the larger story arcs. So while it's not the most famous or the most developed plane of Magic, we have enough cards and lore to go for a nice trip around the place.

This is a cube of JumpStart packs made of cards from:

  • Kaladesh block sets (Kaladesh [KLD] and Aether Revolt [AER])
  • several cards from other sets which are Kaladesh-themed (mostly Magic Origins [ORI], but also JumpStart 2022 [J22], March of the Machine [MOM] and others)

I have created 3 mono-colored packs for each color (15 in total), 10 dual-colored packs to cover the draft archetypes of the Kaladesh Block and a single Colorless pack for all those beautiful robots - 36 in total. My main guideline for the current version of the cube was flavour - I strived to keep each pack thematic, representing races, factions and environments of Kaladesh. As of end of December 2023 the cube is not playtested. It's a first draft if you will so there is probably still a lot to fix here - for example some two-colored packs are wildly color-unbalanced and while they would probably work gameplay-wise I can't be sure they won't feel mono-colored. As is customary with set JumpStarts, the games should feel rougly like Sealed matches in which you were lucky to get all highly synergistic cards in your packs. Not exactly like draft, since there is much less flexibility in terms of splashing, non-singleton, unorthodox builds.

To view the packs you need to set sorting to "Tags" in the list view. Each pack is named after it's flavor theme and very loosely after the mechanical theme (e.g. "Feline Energy" is a typal-cat pack with strong Energy mechanic theme).

If you were willing to play you need to pick two packs, then add lands: 7 basics and a Thriving land of the appropriate color per mono-colored pack, 6 basics (3 of each color) and two common duals (e.g. gainlands) per dual-colored pack. I should probably work to add lands to packs, but again, this is all WIP.
