The Jumpstart cube mimics the draft experience of the Jumpstart set. To play a game, players simply need to combine two 20-card packs to form a deck of 40 cards.
Pack CompositionAlmost every pack contains 8 lands and 12 spells. The exceptions to this ratio are the Tron pack (9 lands) and packs with land-cycling cards like Lórien Revealed (7 lands).
Each pack has either a single-color identity or a colorless identity. Those with a single-color identity contain one of the Thriving lands as a part of the 8 lands.
Each pack contains at least one non-basic, utility land as a part of the 8 lands.
A note on the land-to-spell ratio:
One might argue that different decks require different land-to-spell ratios. The reasoning for the consistent ratio across packs is best explained with an example: let’s say a player is combining a red aggro pack with 7 lands/13 spells and a blue control pack with 8 lands/12 spells. They now have an imbalanced deck where there are more red spells than blue spells but fewer red lands than blue lands. Although a red aggro pack is best suited to have fewer lands, combining it with another pack defeats the purpose.
The exception to this rule is when a card can substitute for a land or vis versa. In packs with a land-cycling card (e.g. Lórien Revealed), the land-cycling card fits with the strategy of the pack (e.g. graveyard matters) and substitutes for a land. In the Tron deck, Urza's Fun House substitutes for a spell.
Each pack includes 4 flex cards: multicolor cards designed to bridge themes and enhance versatility. These cards are selected to align with the pack’s primary theme while adding flexibility for deck-building when combining two packs.
Players may choose one flex card to add to their deck when combining packs. Each flex card matches the primary pack color and a secondary color (e.g., a black Zombie pack will have flex cards in ,
,
, and
).
Packs with no color identity (e.g. Tron pack), contain 5 flex cards in ,

,
, and
