The underlying philosophy for this cube is to have simple mechanics so that everyone feels like they have a chance to compete.
We do not want to include mechanics that require additional tracking or too situational of a setup. More complex mechanics would
need a good portion of cards to give it decent representation. Otherwise it will feel like a floating card when you pull it. The
main focus of non-core mechanics is for card advantage (scry, surveil, cycle). The hope is that any player can play without
knowing set-specific mechanics. If they have to look it up twice, then it’s too complicated.
This is not definitively a peasant cube, but we may move in that direction depending on card quality. The current philosophy is
that rares/mythics can be included as long as they are NOT considered bombs. We’re trying to stay away from a “draft it and you
win” mentality for this version of the cube. Included rare/mythics should require additional card support or come at a price (i.e.
high cost or additional requirements to function). The cards on the list so far try to fit that bill but are open to discussion
for removal.
