A small cube for 2 to 4 players, meant as a sort of educational experience built around cards that are often referenced without explanation by Magic players, and act as baselines against which all cards with similar effects are compared. Many of these cards represent some notion of the "base rate" for an effect or stat line, such as Grizzly Bears.

You might hear a card draw effect called a "Divination" or that a creature "dies to Doom Blade". This cube will allow newcomers to play with Divination, Doom Blade, Shock, and Savannah Lions and understand those reference points going forward, while letting experienced players tap into the nostalgia of simple, classic cards.

The list also includes cards that are the origin of slang terms for effects or archetypes (e.g. Merfolk Looter, Glorious Anthem, Millstone, Falkenrath Aristocrat).

Cards are assigned a rarity, which may be different than the rarity indicated by the set symbol. The cube contains:

• 4 of each Common
• 2 of each Uncommon
• 1 of each rare
