This is my first attempt at building a cube.

This cube utilizes several cards and decks that have come to represent my interest in Magic over the years. Remnants of the first decks I've ever created, remnants of my favorite EDH decks over the years, and pieces of the MTGO Vintage Cube that I've enjoyed.

I love drafting, but often find draft decks rather bland. The intent in this cube is to be able to draft fun and interesting decks that are balanced against one another and create insteresting games. I'm hoping to avoid a simple win by "curving out" optimally, with lot's of instants and reaction cards. My cube is fairly biased towards instant speed reaction and modal cards, with the intent of rewarding thoughtful lines of play. I also intend the games to be a bit longer so there's more of a back and forth, making cards that return value over time more viable.

But what really inspired me to develop a cube is that I've found the energy I put into EDH deck building, although really rewarding for me, only serves to aggravate my friends as my decks become more and more optimized. I'm hoping that this cube offers an outlet for my deck-building energy that improves my friends' experience and encourages my continued improvement of the cube rather than aggravate them and discourage continued energy spent. In the end, the better the cube becomes, the more everyone should enjoy it. Which is something I can't say is true about the average EDH deck.

For further insight into how I've gone about some of the card selection choices, sort by "Tags" and you'll see I've assigned each card a "Tag" that represents the Archetype or Deck that I expect that card to have value in.

Cheers!
