Join the Adventuring Party

The adventuring guilds of Zendikar have decided to broaden their recruitment. Sure a Cleric is useful, but what about a Monk or a Druid? What about the Knights and the Soldiers? Surely a Ninja or a Pirate would be useful in our adventure.

This is an unorthodox tribal cube is built around the party mechanic from Zendikar Rising. Warriors, Wizards, Clerics and Rogues abound. And what is an adventuring party without Dragons to fight! Form up a party or stick with one tribe. In order to make the party more interesting, there is one piece of major errata:

Class Batching Errata

Many of the different classes from magic's history have been combined under the party umbrella

  • Warriors now include Soldiers, Barbarians, and Knights
  • Wizards now include Shamans, Artificers, and Advisors
  • Clerics now include Druids and Monks
  • Rogues now include Ninjas, Pirates, and Assassins
This means that any affect that refers to one of them now refers to all of them. That means that Beckett Brass and Anowon buff each other.

To help with memory issues while drafting, every creature is in one of these four groups or is a Dragon.
*With the exception of lovissa coldeyes and thassa
Design Features
  • Medium Speed But Good Fixing. Signets and green mana dorks help power out late game threats. Signets, three dual lands per color, plus a few Base Camps make three color decks possible.
  • Slower Removal. Removal is either creature based, more expensive, or conditional. There is plenty of it, just in a different form. Sweepers are rare.
  • Overlapping Archetypes. To combat the linearity of tribal archetypes, there are many overlapping archetypes. Mechanical archetypes cross over all four major tribes. Taking a leaf from Lorwyn's book, the "Races" also cover a span of Class creature types, and have tribal support.
Archetypes

Keep in mind, this cube has a looser archetype structure than a modern magic set. You could play WU equipment to take advantage of evasive blue creatures, or play WB sacrifice to take advantage of white tokens.

  • gwu PARTY. Gather a full set of four to turn on powerful party synergies.
  • wub EVASION. Make your creatures unblockable or flying to take advantage of combat damage triggers.
  • ubr THEFT. Fill your opponent's graveyard and then steal cards from it.
  • brg SACRIFICE. Sacrifice your own creatures to take advantage of death triggers.
  • rgw TOKENS. Create an army of overwhelming size.
  • rwb EQUIPMENT. Suit up your strongest creature to make them an unstoppable threat.
  • gur SPELLSLINGERS. Cast spells to buff your team, copy them, then return those spells to your hand to do it again.
  • wbg REANIMATOR. Fill your graveyard with huge creatures, then slam them back onto the battlefield for cheap.
  • urw BLINK. Blink your creatures to reuse their enter the battlefield abilities.
  • bgu SHAPESHIFTERS. Use changelings and clones to take advantage of creature type synergies.
Supported Tribes
  • wbr Warriors
  • urg Wizards
  • wgb Clerics
  • ubr Rogues
  • gr Dragons
  • w+ Humans
  • g Elves
  • rb Goblins
  • wr Dwarves
  • ug Merfolk

P.S. Yes this cube is essentially D&D themed. I'm banking hard on the D&D set having a bunch more support for this cube.

P.P.S There is only one actual adventure card as of now. Yes, I have committed false advertising

P.P.P.S. Yes it is weird that Lovissa Coldeyes is neither a warrior, barbarian, or berserker. It confuses me constantly, but it's too perfect of an include to cut
