Welcpme to the OCPSC! This is a cube one one card from every set in magic's history.

Cards must:

  • have a unique set code on Scryfall, excluding promo sets tied to main sets (e.g. PXLN);
  • be non-reprints if possible. (If a set has new cards, we must pick one of them);
  • be printed in paper.

Additionally, we can exclude a set if it has less than 10 non-basic cards, and we do not include sets that only contain basic lands.

This cube is designed to be exciting and representative, so cards chosen are fun, unique, and powerful, while still creating mostly balanced games of magic.
Supported two color pairs are:
ur Spells

Play creatures that gain value when you cast instants and sorceries, then cast many spells to burn your opponent and interact with the board.
rw Equipment

Play creatures that hold equipment well due to evasion and other keywords, then play equipment to gain value off of attacking.
bg Reanimator

Get creatures into your graveyard, then cast reanimation spells to overwhelm the board with big threats, while creating a value engine.
gw Stompy

Play efficient creatures to gain value and disrupt your opponent while attacking.
ub Evasion

Play small, evasive creatures that gain value when they hit your opponent, then support your board with tempo spells and removal.
Cicada

cicada.

We turned away for a few seconds and a few sets seemed to have piled up. This one will be a longer one. For brevity and my sanity, I'll be splitting these into multiple parts.

[PW25] Rishkar's Expertise

This set doesn't have much for us at present. Aside from a couple pieces of dragon synergy, this is the only option for us here. While I'm not complaining, I'm also not particularly enthused. Regardless, welcome Rishkar's Expertise.

[PSPL] Sword of Forge and Frontier

Although small, this set gives us more to choose from than PW25. We have tried Terror of the Peaks in the past and while it wasn't bad, it didn't perform to my expectations. I figured we've grown enough from our last "sword of" to accommodate another, and Sword of Forge and Frontier is one of the best.

[INR] Stormcarved Coast

INR gives us access to some of the strongest cards that have seen print. We'll see more of this set's effects in the changes we made, but for now we are taking Stormcarved Coast to begin our 4th cycle of duals.

[PF25] Second City

Ladies and germs, enter the card that convinced us to drop vintage legality. Second city fixes you on your second spell, and rewards you handsomely for your "trouble." It's playable in every deck, and it's always good. This card is everything I've ever wanted.

[PJSC] Tishana's Tidebinder

Between this and Brotherhood's End, our choice was clear. Perhaps we both just like tempo too much. Maybe my nostalgia for DOM standard is clouding my judgement. Either way, I can't wait to slam Tishana's Tidebinder

[PL25] Sakura-Tribe Elder

This set is not very good. We are taking Steve here, which will allow us to repick PLG24.

[PLG24] Sakura-Tribe Elder -> Sheoldred's Edict

I'm thrilled to have Sheoldred's Edict in our environment. As far as edicts go, this card is a house and a half. I'm looking forward to playing with it

[DFT] Wastewood Verge

This set is... a lot. There were many strong or even somewhat broken choices for us. We didn't feel like making that choice, so it's land time baybee!! 2/5!!!

[DRC] Rhet-Tomb Mystic

I love 2/1 fliers for 2 I love 2/1 fliers for 2 I love 2/1 fliers for 2.
This card has it all. Flying. Modality. Card draw. Get in here ya little scamp.

[PLG25] Chromatic Lantern

This choice is forced, there are no other cards in this set yet. The card is whatever. Welcome Chromatic Lantern.

[TDM] Cori-Steel Cutter

Listen, it's an equipment that makes dudes with prowess. It's kinda perfect for our red archetypes. Are there better cards in TDM? Probably. Do I care? No.

[TDC] Colossal Grave-Reaver

GB 8 mana creature. Need I say more? The reanimator brainrot is in full swing.

Kinda lost my mind writing this up. No matter. See you all soon for the changes! :)
