This cube was designed to highlight clean design without sacrificing strategic depth in both drafting and gameplay.
Design philosophy
Clean designs - Every card can be understood on first read through
Flexible deck building - Rather than push archetypes, I designed synergistic packages of a few (5-6) cards that can slot into many different decks to encourage creativity and avoid the "on rails" feeling.
Synergy - Reward thoughtful, drafting and avoid good stuff piles by keeping a flat power band and avoiding cards that can take over a game on their own.
2-3 color decks - Limited mana fixing further discourages good-stuff decks. Optimal decks are two colors sometimes splashing a third.
Nostalgia - Replicate play patterns from Magic's heyday (roughly Ravnica through Return to Ravnica), but with new cards
Low power level - Between Standard and retail limited
