The Path of the Oathbreaker Cube is comprised of 600 cards, with a specific allocation for supporting each path. There are 24 cards supporting each single-colored path, 14 cards supporting each dual-colored path, with 30 additional essential cards from each of the five colors. There are also 40 mana artifacts, 15 utility artifacts, and 72 lands to help round out the cube. The cube also includes 48 Oathbreakers, with a total of 2 for each single color, 3 for each dual-color combination, and 8 containing three-plus color combinations.

During the draft, each player receives three 25-card draft packs that contain two slotted Oathbreakers and 23 randomly selected cards. The draft involves players selecting one card from their draft pack and passing the pack to the next player. After the first two cards have been selected from the pack, the remaining selections (11 picks) involve players selecting two cards from each pack before passing it to the next player. The last card in the pack is discarded. This process will be completed for all three draft packs, with the first pack being passed to the left, the second pack being passed to the right, and the last pack going back to the left.

Once the draft is complete, players must select their Oathbreaker to determine their color identity and choose their signature spell (a sorcery or instant) that will be in their command zone. The player's deck must consist of 58 cards plus their Oathbreaker and Signature Spell, all within their color identity.
