This is a cube list for drafts with 8 people. See other lists for different numbers.
Our cube. No power. No power adjacent. Limited cheat and a focus on fair archetypes with a little creature-combo and reanimation mixed in. Lots of fun and constantly being updated!
Check out my semi-regular write-ups under the "blog" tab for details on recent changes and past results.
For those who might not be familiar with some of magic's classic combos, I have compiled a complete list of all the combos in the cube as follows:
Splinter twin + Deceiver Exarch/Pestermite/Zealous Conscripts gives you infinite hasty attackers.
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + any of the above, Felidar Guardian or Restoration Angel gives you infinite hasty attackers.
Devoted druid + Vizier of Remedies gives you infinite green mana. Walking ballista or Finale of Devastation should give you the win from there.
Murderous Redcap + Vizier of Remedies/Melira, Sylvok Outcast/The Great Henge gives the redcap virtual invincibility, combine this with a sac outlet like Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder for infinite damage to your opponent's face.
Kitchen Finks + any of those cards or Heliod, Sun-Crowned gives the finks virtual invincibility, and then infinite lifegain with a sac outlet.
Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Walking Ballista gives you infinite damage to your opponent's face (give Ballista lifelink).
Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Spike Feeder gives you infinite life.
Archangel of Thune + Spike Feeder gives you infinite life and an infinitely large team (bar the spike feeder which will stay the same size).
Eternal Witness plus Time Warp and Ephemerate gives you infinite extra turns.
Obviously some of those are significantly better and/or easier to pull off than others but all are possible. Have fun combo-ing. If you have any queries on the exact mechanics of these combos feel free to ask Aaron or myself.
Advice for new players:
I used to have quite an extensive write-up here on the environment and the best cards in it. That's had to go out the window because, quite frankly, I have no idea exactly what is and isn't good in the cube right now, people keep doing well with a very diverse range of strategies. Check out the "blog" section of this cube to see past results, it will give you a good indication of what people have been playing and doing well with. If you just want something simple to draft first round I would suggest Mono-Red Aggro, White-Black Life, Blue-x-x Control (it doesn't matter which other colours you play so long as you get enough good removal), Mono-Green/Blue-Green Ramp or mono-black aggro. If you feel a bit more adventurous Blue-Black Tempo and Red-Black Midrange are tried, tested and powerful in the environment
If you have any questions ask Aaron or I before drafting and we'll be more than happy to answer them.
Thanks for reading and have fun :)
