Recreate the experience of playing casual magic in the early years with the easy to play Jumpstart format. The kind of games you would have had at school with friends during lunch. ie. Non-tournament. Iconic cards from the era were prioritized where possible.
This is primarily Old School (94-95). In addition to ABU, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends, The Dark, Ice Age and Fallen Empires I'm going to include occasional cards from Tempest to better balance the decks. However, I want the bulk of the cards to be be from Revised, I will only draw from the other sets where it helps the theme. Chronicles may also be included where necessary to lower the overall budget of this set, but these cards can be easily swapped out with their originating sets if your budget allows.
Power 9 isn’t included. Most players wouldn’t have owned power nine back in the day.
I'm not too fused about restricting the number or rares as I would rather get the balance between decks right. Some rares were really good another while others were really bad.
It’s ok if some decks don’t fit well together, but I am looking for synergies when possible.
Mana fixing: I've included partial dual lands in each deck that can be easily be swapped for a genuine dual land of your choice.
Multiple of the same card is allowed in order to try and balance power for some themes.
Each deck is designed to have a mono-color frame (excluding lands) to assist with sorting after a game is over.
