Very first cube I put together with cards from my collection.

Intro

A cube made from cards from my collection, and the first cube I've owned. The goal is to play fair Magic for all levels of skill. It should be straightforward enough to draft with newer players, but interesting enough that experienced limited players can have fun with the set. Classic aggro, midrange, and control decks should exist across themes and colors. I want games to feel interactive and smooth.

Notes / Thoughts / Unanswered Questions
  • in general, cutting goodstuff for synergy pieces might be a good idea
    • might need to trim stronger white 3s like White Plume Adventurer and Skyclave Apparition until I find stronger 3-drops in other colors
    • In general, I have a relatively weak understanding of what the power outliers are. Cards like Academy Wall and Gray Slaad are clearly weaker but fill their respective roles (control card selection that slows down aggro and aggressive GY enabler) whereas the aforementioned white 3s are just generically good everywhere
    • if the "goodstuff" piles are better than the "synergy" piles then the format becomes very midrange-y and the "themes" become too cute to be relevant
  • What level of removal do I want to run? I haven't drafted the cube enough so I don't know what quality and density of removal is right for this level of power.
    • I enjoy the kind of Magic where I can play threats and hold up interaction which biases me towards cheaper interaction
    • I enjoy the kind of Magic where I have to be selective about my removal, which biases me towards a lower density
    • Does this mean, in turn, that the number of too-efficient threats must also be lower to prevent bombs from becoming make-them-have-it instant wins?
Mainboard Changelist+0, -1

I have enough artifact removal that I don't feel too bad about cutting this
