This cube utilizes several cards and decks that have come to represent my interest in Magic over the years. Remnants of the first decks I've ever created, remnants of my favorite EDH decks over the years, and pieces of the MTGO Vintage Cube that I've enjoyed.
I always enjoy drafting, but often find draft decks rather bland(I'm usually happiest playing an Ok Go music video with Lux Cannon). Ok so the intent in this cube is to be able to draft fun and interesting decks that are balanced against one another. An objective of most cubes, but one I nonetheless thought worth mentioning as that is the guiding principle throughout. A secondary objective is that I'm hoping to avoid a simple win by "curving out", with lot's of instants and reaction cards. This cube is fairly biased towards instant speed reaction and modal cards, with the intent keeping the cards in your hand relevant and to create unexpected lines of play.
But what really inspired me to develop a cube is that I've found the energy I put into building magic decks with increasing complexity. Graduating from the unsleeved kitchen table game to tournaments at game stores and ultimately to EDH. The problem with EDH though is that building a deck well can sometimes be considered a crime. If you're clumsy, you'll end up frustrating your friends by committing that crime. If you have sensitive friends you'll commit this crime regardless. You can't commit that crime in a cube(as far as I'm aware?)
btw I utilize the "Tags" feature and I've assigned each card a "Tag" that represents the Archetype or Deck that I expect that card to have value in if I bleeped and blooped correctly.
Cheers!
