It's about living alongside the humiliation of losing. Do you bury your shame or do you let time twist history, like rain warps old wood, into some prideful fetish. There are those who hide behind faith, others seek devils, while still others take to the bayou in animal masks.
Time crawls. It's a time before power creep, when damage still went on the stack. Cut yourself, raze your land, kill your creatures — all for what? To "win"? You get what get.
