Golden Egg. What if you started the game with one always in your hand? How would that change your deckbuilding and mana base and mulligans? Turns out, quite a bit.

The egg cube came about after trying to make a "bulk-rare" cube. I wanted to add odd build-around cards that never really got there in retail limited. I wanted players to be able to play a bunch of random lords in a RG deck, but still be able to cast Arcane Adaptation to make all your creatures count as the type in question. I wanted players to have a single-use way to cast an off-color card that helped tie their deck together and so the Golden Egg companion was added. The cube also goes by old companion rules to make it all work.

The cube doesn't really have color-pair archetypes per se. It's much more like combo pieces that get jigsawed togther to create value. There's Party, Discard, Food, Tokens, Artifacts, Biovisionary, Abiding Grace, Spells, just to name a few.

The cube also has three of the original companions. Lutri, Kaheera and Zirda, but Egg is usually better to companion.
