This box is designed to be played in a few different ways:

  1. For completely virgin magic players who just want a fun game night game that uses Magic cards, but aren't sure if they want to do more than dip their toe in the water, the way to play this pool is to remove the planeswalkers, instants, creatures/artifacts with activated abilities, and spells/lands that manipulate the library in any way except for draw/reveal top cards, shuffle the rest up, and play battle box style. This reduces the things that happen at instant speed to creatures' triggered abilities. At that point, the only time there could be more than one item on the stack is when a creature enters the battlefield, or during the declare attackers portion of combat. This allows the timing of the game to feel more like other static-deck card games.

  2. For a slight uptick in complexity and preservation of the battle box format, put back some or all of the instants, creatures/artifacts with activated abilities, and planeswalkers.

  3. For traditional dueling, build 2-color 40-card decks using any cards in the pool. This use case is the motivation for including Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds.
