495=4 packs of 15 for 8 players, plus one for Lore Seeker. Lessons, conspiracies, wish effects, and cards that "eat" picks use about 5-10 additional cards per person over a standard draft.
This cube is intended to place an emphasis on pilot skill by forcing players to make as difficult choices as possible, maximize sequencing, and utilizing or controlling partial/limited information. Cards are generally selected to provide one time effects or require additional card investment to utilize over time effects. High-value grind engines such as token generators, x-effect per turn, or continuous recursion are generally avoided.
Draft archetypes are along the enemy color pairs:
Boros: Heroic. Synergy based on casting combat tricks and attacking.
Orzhov: Loosely based on Silverquill limited gameplay, with a resource denial subtheme. Strong life gain effects make splashing Green easy, and strong combat tricks help it lean into Red.
Izzet: Coinflip combo. This color pair tries to win by resolving Frenetic Efreet while having Okaun, Zndrsplt, or Chance Encounter on the battlefield and using the ability to flip as many coins as they choose. Coin flip cards are used to generate synergy until the full game plan is online.
Simic: Morphs. While other colors also have quality morphs, the bulk and payoffs are in Simic.
Golgari: A life gain subtheme provides synergy while these colors have strong individual cards. Green creature tutors and Black conditional tutors are included, creating consistency for decks that try to cheat out big creatures or stack conspiracies to create powerful creatures.
