This is my thirteenth draft of a cube primarily focused on Innistrad sets that I own. I have added several cards from other sets to help emphasize specific archetypes.
As a design constriction, I have limited the creature types that appear in my cube by the types of creatures that appear on Innistrad. There are no elves, minotaurs, goblins, or merfolk in this cube. I have also curated the art of spells to fit with the flavor of gothic horror setting.
My cube was designed with 2 color pairs in mind, with the goal to support each 2 color combination. However each color in my cube has many themes that overlap with each other, so three color combinations should not be shied away from. The two major themes of my cube are token generation and graveyard gimmicks.
Tokens
The meta of my cube revolves around dealing with Tokens that each color can produce. Nontoken creatures with more toughness than power are powerful blockers in the face of waves of tokens. With so many tokens running around, board wipes such as Languish and Fiery Confluence are ideal for dealing with out of control boards.
Graveyards
Graveyards are also a major focus of my cube. Each color has reasons to care about their graveyard with effects like Flashback and Disturb, or have cards that benefit from having a graveyard full of cards. Effects that exile graveyards such as Graveyard Trespasser or Jack-O'-Lantern are rare in my cube, and should be valued highly while drafting.
Azorius - Spirits, Flyers, Tempo
With access to the lion's share of flyers, WU spirits aims to soar over the competition. Aim to pin down high value creatures with enchantments and soar over enemy blockers with your unassuming spirits.
Dimir - Control, Death trigger synergies
Rakdos - Blood token/Discard synergy
Rakdos are without a doubt the most agressive color pair in The New Abnormal. Hit the board running with flexible 1-drops and curve out into flying vampires with drain effects to finish off your foes while stabilizing yourself.
Gruul - Stompy, Midrange
Werewolves put the pressure on slower control decks by punishing them for not playing many spells, and aim to out value more aggressive token decks with chunky blockers. Green brings cards with Flash, and red brings instants so that you can comfortably pass the turn without casting spells to trigger your werewolves and still keep up the pressure.
Selesnya - Humans
Humans are by far the most plentiful creature type in the cube. Individually they are small, but they work together and build each other up with +1/+1 counters.
Orzhov - Sacrificing Tokens, Lifesteal/Lifegain
Izzet - Spell slinger, Cantrips/prowess
Golgari - Self mill, graveyard synergy
Boros - Go wide token agro
Simic - Flashback, midrange Card draw and ramp
Bant -
Esper - Control, Tokens, Self Sacrifice
Grixis - midrange, looting/discard synergy
Jund -
Naya -
Mardu -
Temur -
Abzan -
Jeskai -
Sultai - Graveyard Synergy
