THE Cube™

Construction Guidelines

  1. 30~45 special (foil) "Icon" cards within 720 total - this counts Expedition Fetches. Each should encapsulate the spirit of a given color, card type, or archetype in that order of priority. "What is Red?" "What are Slivers?"

  2. Core Archetypes
    a. Tribal - Slivers, Goblins, Elves, Zombies, Birds, Spirits
    b. Arcane / Splice - The Unspeakable, Through the Breach, other synnergies.
    c. Storm - Dragonstorm,
    d. Reanimator
    e. Mono-Color Archetypes
    i. Green - "Creatures"
    ii. Red - "Burn"
    iii. White - "Weenies/Devotion"
    iiii. Black - "Ritual"
    v. Blue - "Wizards/Control"
    f. Control - Discard, Azorius, Grixis, Land Destruction
    g. Foretell -
    h.
    i.

  3. Card Inclusion Principles (Ordered by Priority)
    a. Legible & True to Oracle Text
    b. Flavorful & Interesting
    c. Intuitive
    d. Broad & Synergistic
    e. Iconic

  4. Card Characteristic Importance
    a. Creatures should have limited abilities rather than offering a plethora of abilities and options (for giving a sense of identity vs. spells). Focus on balancing for interesting combat decisions.

Misc. Fun Stuff

Lotus Petals as Treasure Tokens.
Oil Slick Basics as Mana trackers.

Issues to Address:
Support pure-artifact builds with payoffs such as Slag Fiend (an otherwise unconsidered card for the pool). Limit these types of additions to cards that would be more versatile than Slag Fiend, ideally.

To Do:
Add Immutable tag to obvious things such as Brainstorm, Swords, Bolt, etc.
