Welcome to my Cube! This cube is undesigned to push the boundaries of efficiency and power within the unpowered design restriction. I've been cubing with it for about 6 years, and it has slowly evolved into my completely foiled masterpiece. I aim to support a number of archetypes, but on the archetype diversity vs. raw power spectrum, I lean towards the power end.
This cube contains many uploaded decklists of drafts from CubeTutor, my local playgroup, and other online communities. These drafts may be from versions of this cube well before it existed on CubeCobra (the cube was created around 2015).
Design RestrictionsThe only restriction I follow is excluding power and other cards I feel are too strong for the environment (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring, etc). This means that the following are fair game:
I break singleton in two different ways - draft packages and normal singleton breaks
Draft packages: When you draft Collected Company, Ephemerate, or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician you get a free one for your draft pool. When you draft Golos, Tireless Pilgrim, you get a free Field of the Dead.
Singleton breaks: There are two copies of the following cards in the cube: Young Pyromancer, Monastery Mentor, Chart a Course, Baleful Strix, Thoughtseize, Shriekmaw, Wasteland, Prismatic Vista, Skyclave Apparition
I design custom cards to push archetypes. My designs include a card designed to enable Blink archetypes and one final Tinker target. I used to cube many more, and I may cube more in the future.
As long as the cards can reasonably be played, I cube Un cards to push power level. This currently includes Blast from the Past and Ol' Buzzbark (which has been errata'ed to enter with X +1/+1 counters and deal X to target creature on ETB). Some Un cards have been played and were cut for being too powerful, notably Symbol Status, Clocknapper, and Ineffable Blessing.
Every basic is a snow land in this cube. This enables me to play Icehide Golem, Icefang Coatl, etc. Nonbasics do not tap for snow mana.
I currently run two of each fetch land, because I like giving access to good fixing to my drafters and it supports the Lands archetype.
In addition to traditional unpowered archetypes (UG Opposition, Sneak Attack strategies, etc), I am pushing two archetypes that may not be found in other cubes of this size/power level: Blink, Artifacts, Spells, and Lands.
The Blink archetype is centered around flickering your own creatures for value. I have tried to boost the power level of this archetype through a custom card (essentially a pure white Eldrazi Displacer) and the draft 1 get 1 Ephemerate. Palace Jailer is often a strong draw into the archetype.
The Artifacts archetype is centered around using artifacts for value and includes traditionally underpowered cards like Retrofitter Foundry. I have tried to increase the power level of this archetype through cubing more signets than usual, as well as Tolarian Academy.
The Lands archetype is centered on looping fetchlands and Strip Mine for value, supported by Wrenn and Six, Titania Protector of Argoth, and Omnath, Locus of Creation, among others.
The Spells archetype is centered around the singleton breaks on Monastery Mentor and Young Pyromancer. It's a really fun deck when it comes together!
