Some cards are specifically meant to be sideboard as they hate on another Archetype.
There are also few that don't fit into an Archetype but have a high power level to be played in any deck of their color.
Rules (to be continuously revised after reviews when it has been drafted)
Administrative
- no costs for participation or attendance unless a paid venue has been organized
- cards, basic lands and tokens are provided by the organizer and are to be returned after the event
- all cards are presleeved and may not be removed from their sleeves
Setup
- 6 to 12 participants
- 15 cards per pack
- for each pack first one random mono-colored of each color, 2 multi-colored, one colorless and one land card are added, then the rest of the pool is shuffled and used to complement the packs
- checking drafted cards while drafting and sideboarding between games and matches is allowed and advised
Rule Clarifications
- official magic rules by default
- no strict time limits (organizer may overrule this if a participant takes unreasonable time for his decisions)
- London Mulligan by default but players may switch to another mulligan rule before the first mulligan of their match if both agree to it
- some mechanis printed on cards are non-functional because they'd require other cards which aren't in the cube and can be ignored:
-
Cards you won't find in this Cube
- cards never printed as uncommon on paper
- double-sided cards (All Cards are clear-sleeved and not to be removed from their sleeves)
- cards I would have to order for a cost higher than 20€
- cards with a color identity of 3 or more different colors (players should be incentivized to explore archetypes and shouldn't be strung down early by a strong pick)
Outright Banned Cards
- Sol Ring (03.04.22: received complaints that it is too powerful)
- Power Play (28.10.22: gave too high of an advantage)
- Cheatyface (28.10.22: overall dissatisfaction with mechanic)
