CUBE PRIMER
The Innistrad cube is designed to be drafted in two-color pairs, but include enough fixing to allow for occasional crossovers into three-color decks that facilitate powerful synergies.
Spirits
A key characteristic of Innistrad is its tribal focus. The geists of Innistrad are known for being slippery and evasive, a feeling I wanted to capture in this cube. Signpost cards include Drogskol Captain, Patrician Geist, and Selfless Spirit. includes powerful tools for a blink strategy like Momentary Blink and Deadeye Navigator.
Zombies
Zombies are a staple of Gothic horror. On Innistrad, this archetype also often includes graveyard synergies. Signpost cards include Gravecrawler, Diregraf Colossus, and Necroduality. also includes some of the most powerful instants and sorceries in the cube and can form potent control decks by including cards like Barter in Blood.
Vampires
One of the more aggressive color combinations in the cube, this deck is often swarming the battlefield using cheap creatures like Falkenrath Gorger and Voldaren Bloodcaster, and finishing off the opponent with madness payoffs like Fiery Temper.
Werewolves
This version of the cube features both new and old werewolves, providing extra power and nuance to the archetype. Curve out with cards like Mayor of Avabruck + Geier Reach Bandit + Huntmaster of the Fells, and finish them off by transforming your board and controlling combat with Wild Hunger and Nightpack Ambusher.
Humans
This deck wins with cards like Thalia's Lieutenant, Travel Preparations, and Hamlet Vanguard, along with a dose of token strategies to capitalize on human synergies.
Reanimator
A classic reanimator strategy with cards like Entomb to put targets into your graveyard, and reanimator spells like Unburial Rites to return Avacyn, Angel of Hope or Griselbrand to the graveyard. This archetype is also the most natural fit for the Brisela, Voice of Nightmares combo. can also take advantage of powerful cards like Blood Artist and Fleshtaker in a sacrifice shell.
Self-Mill
The most natural home for the classic Innistrad Spider Spawning deck, mill uses self-mill cards to great effect, enabling recursion and delirium, and takes advantage of powerful top-end cards like Ishkanah, Grafwidow.
Self-mill
This flavor of the self-mill deck uses cards like Eccentric Farmer and Crawling Sensation to dump cards in your graveyard, and can gain additional value through cards like Rise of the Ants or Timeless Witness. This deck can easily splash colors with cards like Reclusive Taxidermist and Far Wanderings to open up additional recursion options, and is also a great fit for the one-card combo of Laboratory Maniac!
Spells
This classic archetype can play an aggressive game with cards like the classics Delver of Secrets and Brimstone Volley, or a more controlling graveyard game featuring the original Innistrad all-star Burning Vengeance or a massive Rise from the Tides. Load up on a mixture of payoffs like Thing in the Ice and cheap interaction like Fading Hope.
Humans
The other premiere aggro deck in the cube is humans, and absolutely brutal beatdown if left uncontested. Cards like Reckless Waif, Thatcher Revolt, and Riders of Gavony put the pressure on your opponent, and following them up with a Rally the Peasants or Hellrider will finish them off quick. This deck also makes the best use out of the monstrous Hanweir, the Writhing Township.
