LouCube is the best/worst idea I've had (so far). This is an environment that's built around my favorite card type in Magic, Vehicles.
Similar to how every pack of Dominaria had a Legendary Creature and every pack of War of the Spark had a Planeswalker, every pack of LouCube comes with at least one vehicle.
Before the draft, the "Vehicle Pack" (a curated selection of around 40-ish vehicle cards) is shuffled and 25 will be set aside to be the 16th card for each pack while the rest get shuffled into the cube itself. (Note: I do not know how to do this in custom draft yet!)
Every player starts with a copy of Mech Hangar in their pool.
NOTE: In regards to the card Cosima, God of the Voyage, "The Omenkeel" is houseruled to be the front side of the card. The card will be sleeved up this way, as well.
ANOTHER NOTE: While there's a handful of Cycling cards, it is not a supported Archetype. Astral Drift should be considered for it's cycling ability.
One of the issues with most artifact-based environments is they lean heavily in favor of the non-Green () colors. Vehicles, specifically, have heavily favored White
with additional support in both Blue
and Red
. To balance this, the cube is created with a gradient in mind. While each color works with Vehicles in it's own unique ways, White
will focus on more proactive strategies like aggro with a bit less removal and Green
will focus on more reactive strategies with emphasis on stronger artifact removal and control.

These are some of the themes that exist within the cube. There are larger, macro-themes and synergies throughout colors as opposed to traditional archetypes to allow for more fluid strategies that revolve around the vehicle card type.
Twiddle - Vehicles provide a "tap outlet" for various card effects and there are plenty of untap effects to pair with these abilities or untap your crew.
High Power/Power Matters - Since crewing is based off power, creatures in this environment often have higher power than toughness. There are also ways to take advantage of the fact that vehicles have incredibly high power stats.
Graveyard Value - There's a few ways to cheat your vehicles from the grave as well as plenty of ways to get your vehicles back.
Creature Tokens - Many cards in the environment often provide more than one body per card. This is to ensure that you always have some crew available. Some vehicles even bring their own crew.
Sacrifice - Artifact and creature sacrifice for slower/controlling decks or as just ways to close out games in aggressive decks.
I'm always open to suggestions and love seeing what other people test-draft so feel free to playtest and leave your thoughts!
