One of the classic pieces of magic rules trivia is the total number of zones that exist in a game of magic. If you ask your average player, they'll say that there are 6 zones: battlefield, graveyard, exile, hand, library, and the stack. A slightly more savvy player might say 7, including the command zone that always exists, even outside of commander. That answer is still incorrect however, since the real answer is 8, all of the above as well as the ante zone. Yes, although ante has been long gone for quite some time, the ante zone still exists in the game, but is always empty. This cube is an attempt to bring that piece of magic history without the threat of illegal gambling.
This cube is meant to draft like a standard 360 cube, with 3 packs of 15, 5 packs of 10, whatever fits the number of players. The way games are played is the interesting part. All games are best of 1, and are played with ante. This means that at the start of each game, both players place the top card of their libraries into the ante zone, and whoever wins gets all the cards that have been anteed. This is not the whole story of course, since there are plentily of cards that interact with ante, both printed back in the day and of my own design. Games are best of 1 to ensure players have time to feel the effect of the ante, losing key cards potentially or gaining a great asset in an upset match. Overall, this cube is the kind of thing I want to do with my 360 cube: something completely insane that can't be experienced anywhere else in magic.
This cube is going to be (almost) entirely custom cards since building an ante cube with official cards is rather lacking with only 7 cards to use. This is a rather large task that I'm going to be chipping away at for a while, but you can check out the MTG.design page with all the cards I've made here: https://mtg.design/u/Cmaster/FZC
