Created as a 'best of' Cube for the three Ravnica blocks.

Design principles:

  • 360 cards exactly; serves a full 8 person draft.
  • Strict color and guild parity. That means 3-color cards and nephilim are out.
  • Guild cycles with a dedicated mechanic are all-or-nothing. In practice, I've only kept mana fixing, two sets of split cards, and hybrid guildmages.
  • Cycles of guild legends and monocolor cycles have been picked from (e.g. Experiment Kraj and Hunted Dragon).
  • I've tried a rough match of the average mana curve of each color in the original sets.
  • No planeswalkers. There aren't enough to balance the colors, and I'm fine not having them.
  • At least one instance of each guild mechanic (technically two for convoke, which wasn't a problem).
  • Where possible, choose cards that have cross-guild and cross-mechanic synergy.

Known Biases:

  • I like split cards
  • Ravnica sets are low on artifacts, and many of them suck. Executive decision to limit artifacts to 10x Signet.
  • Relatively high amount of enchantments, fitting the original Ravnica enchantment subtheme.
  • As a consequence, I've only included artifact removal that also hits enchantments. Mortify is in; Putrify is out.
  • Support for gates to to not be worth it. Gates still in as cheap mana fixing.
  • Likewise, support for a milling strategy deemed not worth it, as it's all or nothing and doesn't synergise with anything other than Dredge. To be determined how badly this hurts Dimir.
  • I have the most nostalgia for original Ravnica, which gave some cards the benefit of the doubt.

Statistics:

  • Actually a decent spread over the different sets. Highest is OG Ravnica at 77, lowest is Dragons Maze at 32.
  • Each color has cards from all sets, with the exception of Dragon's Maze (which was mostly gold and mostly bad).
