The Horde Cube is a 560 card cube named after my favorite card (which is not good enough to be in the cube.) The goal is to support many fair strategies, while encouraging highly synergistic decks with combo potential. I am trying to avoid 1 card "I win cards" and planeswalkers that dominate games (unless the caster really works for them like 10 + mana spells and Upheaval or Wildfires.) I want people to work for these synergies and reward focused deck building. My goal is to avoid 5 color good stuff decks being the best things you can do, unless they are part of a focused strategy.

This cube is inspired by both the Andy Mangold's Bun Magic Cube and Caleb Gannon's Powered Synergy Cube. I love Mangold's approach with low mana cost, highly interactive games, but I also love the synergy, multi card combo decks supported in Caleb Gannon's Synergy Cube. Both cubes eschew 1 card I win cards.

Gameplay Goals
Decision Rich — Players are presented with important, strategic choices starting from the earliest turns of the game. Players who do not have early plays should be significantly disadvantaged.
Interactive — Decks are non-linear and must adjust their strategy and sequencing in each match and game depending on their opponent's deck. The tempo of the game and impact of strategic choices is a result of the interplay between both decks. While I encourage people to build towards combos, I want those combos interacted with, and strong decks should be flexible and resilient.
Diverse — Decks are not prescriptive. Players are encouraged to combine cards in new and unexpected ways.

Board Wipes - There are Board Wipes available in Red (5 damage based (wildfires)), White (3 + Armegeddon), and Black (4), Rakdos (1), and Upheaval.

Card Selection & Powerlevel- My goal is for the cube to support many classic cards in addition to pet cards that I hope I have built enough support around (Tameishi, Lotus Field, Bounce Lands) There are a number of potential power outliers in the cube that are meant to encourage specific archetypes. I play booster tutor, city of ass, and a few draft matters cards. I break singleton for Cogwork librarian to support synergy in deck building. I am also break singleton for fetch and shock lands as well as lotus field. Generally, unless a card is an archetype defining card, I want it to work in at least two distinct deck (I try to avoid parasitic roleplaying cards or hosers for specific strategies).

There are many powerful, viable cards that are intentionally excluded, including but not limited to cards that:

provide their caster an outsized advantage with minimal or no deck building cost
discourage interactivity or limit decision making
have a very polarized matchup spread

I prefer powerful cards that require work to unlock their full power.

Mana Fixing
The balance of available mana fixing is meant to allow players access to two and three-color manabases that can compete with the consistency of mono-colored decks. Fetch lands are probably the most valuable lands as I prioritize other fetchable lands, duals, shocks, triomes and they make cards like Wrenn and Six, and landfall payoffs such as Lotus Cobra and Field of the Dead.

Lands based strategies are emphasized both for fixing and ramp with blue/green based bounces and lotus field are rewarded with land untap effects in blue and green. In addition, numerous cards fetch specific lands in addition to the abundance of tutors. Lotus field based combos as well as thespian stage/Dr depths exist. Crucible of worlds and fastbond also encourage lands based strategies. Cards that destroy lands include boseiju, vindicate, wildfire/burning, assassin's trophy, acidic slime, and wasteland and strip mine and may be extremely powerful in certain matchups. I am really watching these cards.

Supported archetypes include
Control - uw, uwb,ub, 5 color
Green ramp
W/R Aggro both artifact and not, slight equipment theme
Persist Combo
Spells Slinger
BR sacrifice
Blink
UX value artifacts
5 color niv
Land
Untapping lands
Wildfires/Upheaval

Combos in the cube include:
Heavily supported:
Persist (this is the most heavily supported)
Draw 7s (there are several Wheel effects plus sheoldred, narset, bowmasters, and leovold)

Somewhat supported
Elite arcanist plus untap effects plus 2 or 3 mana lands
Felidar guardian plus saheeli rai

I am testing numerous single card build arounds which I hope will be among the most powerful strategies when they come together to reward people for the risk. These build arounds include:
Tolarian Academy
Tameishi
Lotus Field
Wildfire/Burning
Upheaval
Recurring nightmare (only reanimate spell for larger creatures)
Urza, Lord High Artificer
Paradox Engine
Aluren
Krark-Clan Ironworks
Eldarazi
Thousand Year Storm/Double Vision
Primevil Titan
Living Death
Storm with grapeshot or brain freeze, led and breach

Many of these are playable outside of focused decks but hopefully are really paid off by focused deck building. I include numerous tutors for this reason.

Occasionally supported:
Thopter/Sword
Gravecrawler-Phrexian Alter
