Pulse check, is this really a cube for new players?
Is this really the best you can do?

This cube is a step away from my main cube. With the inclusion of so many cards that are just "strictly better", I've collected many cards that are cube-able, but I don't use anymore. Meanwhile, the cards in my main cube (like many rares these days) have a wealth of text and mechanics that are hard for new players. Therefore, this cube is meant to be even simple enough to introduce new players with (by building sealed).

Simple how?

-Low number of words on each card. I've found that with my players (new and old) they can get overloaded on card text and not branch out, sticking to what they know.
-Low number of "one off" mechanics, stuff like daybound/nightbound, learn, mutate which increase the number of words on a card and would confuse new players if not for reminder text
-Intuitive and clear archetypes like Blink, Tokens, and Spells-Matter. These archetypes are clear as day and core aspects of what each color does in the pie.

Therefore, each card will have to pass a few tests to be put in the cube.

  1. Is this card fun for both players (looking at you Smokestack)?
  2. Is the amount of text justified on this card (by being a buildaround or lynchpin that can't be replaced)?
  3. Is it easy to understand where this card is good?
  4. Is this a broad or maindeckable card for more than one archetype? (minus gold signpost cards)

If a card has these 4 qualifications, it's good to go for the cube.

Archetypes
While a color might have a more classic 2 color archetype, I'd also like some variation from my main cube. This means each archetype might not do it's most iconic thing, but it will do something easily grok-able none the less.
