You can see all my thought here!

You Hear Something is basically a strict upgrade over Glare, as 5 damage kills just about everything in the cube, and the pump mode will give some flexibility to push through a go-wide win.

Beacon was fun as a build around, but ultimately felt like a trap. It was too easy to counter in so many ways available in the cube. Going to focus on red's theme of tokens and goblins instead.

MH2 Update! You can see my full thoughts on the set here!

Preordain rarely/never got played in my meta, and taking a turn and a card to get some filtering was too big of a tempo hit. Hard Evidence (aka Detective Crab) gives a suitably large blocker for blocking early aggression, and comes with a clue to use for late-game card draw if needed!

New set, trying some new cards!

Arrogant Poet seems like a decent payoff for the B/X lifegain deck, and the floor of being a 2 mana 2/1 isn't too shabby either. Flying has a big impact in the cube, but one toughness does make it vulnerable to big blowouts to any kind of instant-speed removal or bounce, so I hope it'll be a skill-testing card for both sides of the table. Essence Extraction was chosen as the cut, as at 3-mana and double pips it wasn't seeing a lot of play, typically at that CMC you should be getting a game-ender type of card, rather than a good removal.

Claws of Gix always stood out as a weird card for me in the cube, but it was crucial to give any color deck access to some kind of lifegain. With the advent of Environmental Sciences I think there's finally a contender. Env Sci gives the same amount of life per mana spent, and importantly doesn't require you to sac your boardstate to do it, which given the deck has no sacrifice synergies made it almost always a downside. On top of that, Env Sci also "draws" you a land, which can help with greedy double-pip splashes or just color fixing in general. While it's not strictly better, as Claws requires less upfront cost and can do cheeky things vs opponents targeted removal, I think overall this swap will lead to a more flexible and useable slot in the cube.
