Making a few tweaks in the interest of adding a little more support for various strategies. Looking forward to trying all the recent changes out this weekend!

Missed a couple swaps in the big update, cleaning those up.

Thanks to the Jank Diver Gaming podcast 2024 Peasant year in review, I went back through the releases from this year and found so many more cards that I had missed previously. With this change there's a few major themes: push G/B harder into the graveyard value strategy with things like Chalk Outline and Insidious Roots; add more support for the blue "draw two cards" strategy, add a bit more support for the W/U tapper deck, add the MH3 MDFC mono color lands, remove Battles and add Rooms, and as always keep a close watch on the amount and quality of burn that can go to the player. Would absolutely love any and all thoughts/reactions to these changes, it's a big shakeup! If there's still something missing you think I should add, please let me know!

After playing some with Foundations, this one feels like a slam dunk so wanted to get it in while I figure out what else I want to include from the set.

I like a lot of these (and some I'm like yeah I can see that). So for the sake of time I'll hit up the ones I'm not so big on.

  1. I really don't like Decree of Justice. 6 mana for a 4/4? 5 mana for a card and 2 1/1s? It just doesn't seem like much value. I feel like there are better options for 6 mana. But I welcome your justification
  2. I still think Thrill-Kill is a valuable card for different decks (and can work with your counters), where as the Slith is more for aggressive decks. I can see it being good for facing decks with counters tho... so I guess I'd rather see something like Etched Familiar go. It's really unexciting to me, especially since the trigger is a death trigger, meaning you can't blink it for value (unlike is nicer counterpart). It's something nice to sacrifice I guess? But do you want to be saccing your 3/2? or the 1/1s that turn into 2/2s kinda thing.
  3. I'm very hesitant that you have enough support for Seedglaive Mentor. You have only a few white spells that will target it, No red ones (all burn), and then only a couple white creatures that will target it. I think this card was better in the set, where you had more abilities and pump spells, to ensure it got going. I'd rather keep Shadowfax over it.
  4. I don't think I'm in love with Hunger Tides Rises. I get that it interacts with the grave yard, but it is soooo sloooow. You play it and then you need to wait 4 turns to get a creature back? I know it makes some 1/1s but are you using those to chump while you hold out to get a bigger creature, thus limiting the size of the creature to get? It feels like a real win more card. Like if I have the creatures to wait and sacrifice to it, them I'm probably ok as it is. I mean it would feel really bad only being able to go get a 2 drop.

The three-color cards were a fun experiment but I didn’t really love the gameplay. Lots of three+ color soup decks and that’s not really the vision I have for the cube. One copy of the trilands goes too, the fixing doesn’t need to be as good without the extra gold cards. Likely going to continue trimming the fat a bit as I look to make updates for releases from the second half of 2023. If there’s anything you think should go, or anything you’re excited about from recent sets, let me know!

This cube is way, way overdue for an update and I just put together a big list of changes. I'm not 100% sold on all of these, but wanted to put it out there for now and will scale back if the feedback warrants it.

A lot of the cuts are the rares that I had added to fill some gaps, most of which aren't really necessary, or cards that are generically useful but not really fitting with any of the cube's major themes (e.g., Barter in Blood, the Mages). The Invasions might not all be powerful enough, but I'm so curious to see how they play in the cube context. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Roaring Earth turned out to be terrible, so putting Anthem back in.

Gaea's Anthem is one of my favorite - quite the game changer when dropped on turn three or four with some 1-drops on the board.

Just one change at the moment for monocolor cards from New Capenna at this point, though there may be more to come. Amazing how fast cards get obsoleted these days.

Hey! Sorry for the off-topic, but I recently listened to the Lucky Paper Radio special episode about the Cube Tutor shutdown and Ben mentioned you in the credits. Where you close to him or to wtwlf123? Just out of curiosity.

Was inspired by New Capenna to expand the cube a bit to make room for some fun and interesting three color cards without increasing the ratio of gold cards. I've also been toying with the idea of adding some rares for a while now, and I'm finally going to pull the trigger on that. Trying to keep the power level of those within the range of the rest of the cube so that they're not all 100% obvious first picks. Let me know what you think!

Liking the changes. I'm thinking about adding dreadhorde arcanist myself. I've had a few drafts that we've had 10 show up and I'm currently playing booster tutor so planning a big update that will take the cube to 510. 450 + 4 packs for tutor. I've added fetchlands to the cube and would say that with them tireless tracker would definitely be too strong. Curious to hear if he ends up being too strong for you as well.

This updates is giving me some good ideas for my cube. I've thought of adding some tricolor cards, but wasn't sure on direction. Lands are a great start to adding spells.

Forgot about this one. Prancer is such a great card, happy to include it.

Got a chance to test these out last Saturday and they were all great. Cutting some clunky/situational cards to make room

Wow, super excited for this set. Lots of fun ones to try, even if just to shake things up for a bit. You'll note that I'm adding a non-land rare for the first time. This is something I probably won't do often, but in this case I'd like blue decks to have to work a little harder to get their Mind Control effect. There might be more changes to come, so stay tuned!

How did Kappa Tech-Wrecker perform? I like the idea of having ninjutsu in green but I'm not completely sold on this one yet.

We got to see a lot of these cards on Sat, and they were great. I look forward to seeing the rest of the changes. Neon Dynasty was great for us both.

One final change pre-Neon Dynasty

Changed my mind on cutting the green sixes, and had one more gold card to swap out.
