Making a few tweaks in the interest of adding a little more support for various strategies. Looking forward to trying all the recent changes out this weekend!
Missed a couple swaps in the big update, cleaning those up.
Thanks to the Jank Diver Gaming podcast 2024 Peasant year in review, I went back through the releases from this year and found so many more cards that I had missed previously. With this change there's a few major themes: push G/B harder into the graveyard value strategy with things like Chalk Outline and Insidious Roots; add more support for the blue "draw two cards" strategy, add a bit more support for the W/U tapper deck, add the MH3 MDFC mono color lands, remove Battles and add Rooms, and as always keep a close watch on the amount and quality of burn that can go to the player. Would absolutely love any and all thoughts/reactions to these changes, it's a big shakeup! If there's still something missing you think I should add, please let me know!
After playing some with Foundations, this one feels like a slam dunk so wanted to get it in while I figure out what else I want to include from the set.
Thanks to MrEngineer for the feedback, made a few tweaks as a result.
Lots of good stuff released for Peasant this year and trying a lot of it out! Let me know what you think and if there's anything you think I missed!
Here's the list of changes for the most recent handful of sets. As always, I like to try out lots of stuff to see what's good and what doesn't quite measure up. Let me know what you think!
The three-color cards were a fun experiment but I didn’t really love the gameplay. Lots of three+ color soup decks and that’s not really the vision I have for the cube. One copy of the trilands goes too, the fixing doesn’t need to be as good without the extra gold cards. Likely going to continue trimming the fat a bit as I look to make updates for releases from the second half of 2023. If there’s anything you think should go, or anything you’re excited about from recent sets, let me know!
This cube is way, way overdue for an update and I just put together a big list of changes. I'm not 100% sold on all of these, but wanted to put it out there for now and will scale back if the feedback warrants it.
A lot of the cuts are the rares that I had added to fill some gaps, most of which aren't really necessary, or cards that are generically useful but not really fitting with any of the cube's major themes (e.g., Barter in Blood, the Mages). The Invasions might not all be powerful enough, but I'm so curious to see how they play in the cube context. Let me know what you think! Thanks!
Roaring Earth turned out to be terrible, so putting Anthem back in.
Just one change at the moment for monocolor cards from New Capenna at this point, though there may be more to come. Amazing how fast cards get obsoleted these days.
Was inspired by New Capenna to expand the cube a bit to make room for some fun and interesting three color cards without increasing the ratio of gold cards. I've also been toying with the idea of adding some rares for a while now, and I'm finally going to pull the trigger on that. Trying to keep the power level of those within the range of the rest of the cube so that they're not all 100% obvious first picks. Let me know what you think!
Forgot about this one. Prancer is such a great card, happy to include it.
Got a chance to test these out last Saturday and they were all great. Cutting some clunky/situational cards to make room
Wow, super excited for this set. Lots of fun ones to try, even if just to shake things up for a bit. You'll note that I'm adding a non-land rare for the first time. This is something I probably won't do often, but in this case I'd like blue decks to have to work a little harder to get their Mind Control effect. There might be more changes to come, so stay tuned!
One final change pre-Neon Dynasty
Changed my mind on cutting the green sixes, and had one more gold card to swap out.
