Strong/Staples:
None.
Interest:
Dawnwing Marshal (U): Just based on the body, I think this is the first 2/2 non-conditional flying for [W} we’ve had access to. I also like this body a lot better versus Ambush Paratrooper, Warren Elder, or Steadfast Unicorn.
Sun-Blessed Healer (U): Kind of comparable to Phyrexian Missionary but it’s mono-colored and actually reanimates versus gravedigging. The fact that this fits in any White deck and fits both aggro and midrange decks as both a 2- and 4-drop makes it seem pretty strong.
Similar:
Helpful Hunter (C): Essentially the same (and probably better since it’s not an enchantment) as Spirited Companion.
Inspiring Paladin (C): A kind of bigger Ainok Bond-Kin, but it trades a better aggressive body for being worse on defense. That’s probably a good trade, but I’m not sure this is competitive with the higher-powered White 3-drops.
Unique/Synergy:
Cat Collector (U): If we’re evaluating the card in a vacuum, it falls short of Mage’s Attendant, but as a synergy piece, it offers a payoff for the lifegain deck that is better than Attended Healer. It’s still going to suffer from the variability that lifegain decks often have (amazing with Soul Warden, below-rate if you don’t draw your cards in the right order).
Divine Resilience (U): Most peasant cubes don’t play a ton of White protection spells, but this also splits as a team-wide, instant-speed protection spell. That’s a unique effect for peasant and a lot less narrow than Brave the Elements or Surge of Salvation.
Faithful Pikemaster (C): My first reaction was to dismiss this, but as a top end of an aggressive deck scry 2 usually “draws” a card by bottoming a land and a 3-power first strike isn’t a bad body. This could end up slightly more playable than expected (I’d be more bullish if it just had first strike natively).
Qala, Ajani’s Pridemate (U): Obviously a big synergy piece (goes insane with Soul Warden), but it can also function on its own. I do worry that it’s going to be pretty swingy game-to-game and also against certain decks (Red decks will have a very hard time removing).
Urdnan, Dromoka Warrior (U): Has to be a synergy piece, otherwise it’s just worse than Sunhome Stalwart, but it’s a potentially strong trigger (a la Duelcraft Trainer).
No Interest:
Angel of Finality (U): Rare downshift. But Aerie Auxiliary (a common! MH3, man) has the same power and can bring more overall P/T into play for the same cost.
Armasaur Guide (C): At 5-mana we already have Serra Angel, so you need to be using the pseudo-battalion trigger, which means you either already need a large board (that can attack decently) or this needs to survive combat on likely T6+.
Claws Out (U): Not likely to have the cost reduction be meaningful and Pride of Conquerors is likely to be much cheaper when you want it to be.
Dauntless Marshall (U): A close to functional reprint of Pianna, Nomad Captain.
Dazzling Angel (C): A decent body that has a Soul Warden-effect stapled to it. I do wonder if it will, on average, gain more life more quickly than Aerial Responder.
Felidar Savior (C): An incredibly minor upgrade on Basri’s Acolyte, but I think both are clearly worse than Aerie Auxiliary.
Fleeting Flight (C): Because it only prevents combat damage, the combination of its two until end of turn effects is actually somewhat redundant (unless you’re facing a flying blocker). This si not Snakeskin Veil versus Blossoming Defense. I think I prefer something like Crumb and Get It or Fight as One to this.
Guarded Heir (U): Unless you want a blink target, this is too much mana for too generic a payoff. Maul Splicer isn’t commonly played in a ramp-ier color.
Hare Apparent (C); In a singleton cube this is a vanilla 2/2 and even in a cube that grants you multiple copies, I think you’re not happy until playing the 3rd or 4th one.
Hinterland Sanctifier (C): Soul Warden is almost certainly better.
Joust Through (U): Pretty similar to Elspeth’s Smite, but the 1 life is probably worth less than exile unless you explicitly support lifegain themes.
Luminous Rebuke (C): Functional reprint of Seized from Slumber.
Prideful Parent (C): Attended Knight grants First Strike, which is probably better than Vigilance and Mage’s Attendant has better stats and an alternate ability.
Psemilla, Meletian Poet (U): Obviously requires an enchantress deck, but it has a high ceiling. At the same time, It needs at least two triggers to be “worth it” and that leaves you very susceptible to removal.
Squad Rallier (C): Too vanilla a body and too much mana for a mediocre effect.
Twinblade Blessing (U): I’m not sure giving it flash makes up for the worse casting cost versus Battle Mastery or the synergy of Twinblade Geist.
Vanguard Seraph (C): Mentioning it again, but this just doesn’t compete with the P/T of Aerie Auxiliary. It also requires other cards to do anything.
