A bunch of changes targeted at improving the cube for our playgroup, who only play MtG in once every 3-6 months.
White
- Skyclave Apparition is too wordy, Monastery Mentor is a classic and easy to grok.
- My printing of Fateful Absence doesn't include help-text for Investigate, so it's out for the "does what is says" Oust.
- Wanted to include Maul of the Skyclaves, and replaced Eidolon of Obstruction for power reasons
Blue
- Aether Channeler is kind of like a more interesting Cloudkin Seer
- Add Mist-Syndicate Naga as a second ninjitsu card (see Dimir), replaces Stormwing Entity which played a little awakardly
Black
- Adding some more reanimator support with Recurring Nightmare, and Ob Nixilis Reignited is no longer matching the power of the rest of the cube
- Grave Titan removed, too many unsatisfying games where he lands on curve and there's no real comeback. Replace with Makeshift Mannequin for more reanimator support.
Red
- Too many words on Phoenix of Ash, and playgroup loves goblins so Legion Warboss added
- Pia and Kiran Nalaar not adding enough to aggro, and playgroup not building red artifact decks. Hazoret the Fervent is a more straight-forward curve-topper.
Green
- Wanted another 2-drop and Fauna Shaman is perfect, removed Cultivate as it's a little slow for cube
- Bushwhack is a cool fight spell, and Abundant Harvest didn't spark joy
Multicolored
- Always interested in cards that get banned, so Expressive Iteration is replacing the slightly stale Fire // Ice
- Dragonlord Atarka is cool, Thrash // Threat is lame, easy swap
- Polukranos, Unchained doesn't explain Escape, and the mess with counters isn't worth the complexity. I'm not promising Grist, the Hunger Tide is less complex, but it is more interesting
- Nahiri, the Harbinger is for control or combo decks, but playground is not building these in Boros+ colours. Showdown of the Skalds is a nice swap.
Colorless
- Nobody understood that Sorcerous Spyglass was a planeswalker hate card, and even if they did they probably wouldn't run it. Sundering Titan is a classic cube card for ramp/reanimator decks.
- Card disadvantage of Sparkhunter Masticore made it suck, Ancient Stone Idol is another classic fatty and wanted it in the cube.
