As I am still working on the mono color sections I declined adding any of the mono color cards from LTR yet, there will be quite a few I am looking to add especially one cycle in particular (pun fully intended) but now isn't the time for them yet.
But I did want to add in the cards from the sections I have finished currently namely the gold, colorless, and lands. As with all the LTR cards, anything that tempts the ring is auto declined from not wanting to deal with that mechanic but also things like the food payoff cards were declined.
This left me with 5 includes in the sections I have finished. Prince Imrahil the Fair works well with the creature tempo strategy I am pushing with WU a lot better then Staggering Insight which I was reluctantly including, Denethor, Ruling Steward was the same but for WB being a very good human that spits out more humans and adds to the mini sacrifice theme humans has in those colors (definently way more fitting then Sin Collector who was added solely for being a playable human), Old Man Willow cares about land count like the rest of the BG cards and doubles as removal that makes games smaller unlike Worm Harvest that was already a watchlist card for power and makes games absurdly big with tokens, Lembas was added along with the artifact changes I also done today, and finally clearing up one of the singleton breaks I have for another solid land in Shire Terrace replacing one of the City of Brass.
Just from the mono color cycling cycle and these changes LTR so far is at 10 cards included. The set is not MH3 by any stretch but has so far proven to be more pushed then some recent sets at lower rarity in my opinion, I have even more I am looking to add too so could be quite a sizeable portion added.
I took a small break from cube designing but decided to come back and complete this list into working shape.
With the original design change I am making, I am rebuilding my whole cube to focus and enhance around battles so all my 2 color archetypes are coming of this change. For the colorless section in particular a huge part of this update will be implementing a lot more support for a creature based artifact deck, mainly for UR being artifact themed but can also add pollination with the other decks with this as well.
Myr Scrapling gives a +1/+1 counter for GW synergies, Containment Construct and Bag of Holding synergize well with all the looting and rummaging I intend to add Bloodline Pretender gives me colorless Thalia's Lieutenant without the ETB, and more new additions. The colorless section changed quite a lot and pretty happy with the list.
I am looking into possibly errataing Harvest Hand to be a 3/3 or lower it to cost 2 mana just to buff the card but we will see. Overall a great start and lets me start working on mono color sections and get this cube back into working order again.
I am working on reworking the entirely of how my cube will be working. My goals with this rework is to have it focus around and enhance battles. To accomplish this I am intentionally making games smaller for longer, a lot of the cards especially low cost cards in the cube will either lower the amount of cards on the battlefield or hands or go neutral along with making card advantage much harder and more expensive and reducing snowballing effects and cards so games aren't dictated by a single card or curve out. It will be possible with smart play be able to have a true comeback instead of "I drew my I win card or sweeper".
Another thing I am trying to do is making battles be power outliers when they are flipped, the decision to ignore tempo and go for the battle will be the defining feature of the format.
This isn't a finalized list for the gold, just the start... I will be going back and editing this as I go along. All of the battles will be in as a 2-of so density and prevalence are high enough for a theme and the rest of the gold cards are meant to be synergistic with them (example Invasion of Kaladesh being paired with a UR artifact matters package).
