As I feel like Cleaver might be a bit potent, I DO have a plan in case of that. You may want to just use Geralf's Mindcrusher instead, but if need be I'm going to print out a nerfed version, like this:
Saw Skaab (3U)
Creature - Zombie Horror
3,Tap, Sacrifice another Zombie:
Create two tokens that are copies of the sacrificed creature, except their base power is half that creature’s power and their base toughness is half that creature’s toughness. Round up each time. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.
2/4
After some consideration I decided that with the changes I'd made to the Skaab deck there are now more ETB effects that Cleaver Skaab can make use of and make for more interesting plays than a big beater that needs to be killed twice. The offensive milling it offered isn't widely relevant or fun enough to make up for the difference. Between the couple self mill zombies and the exploit ones, plus of course Cleaver's ability putting a creature in the graveyard, it SHOULD be enough to cover for Mindcrusher's self-mill role. Whether Cleaver is too strong with the instant speed saccing remains to be seen, it at least needs specifically zombies for its ability, so that's something. I DID mix it up a bit with Saw in Half that kinda does a similar thing, but halves the stats as well. I think this effect at sorcery speed and halving the stats would still be good in this deck. Hmmm...
I saw two mechanics that work together and I decided to see if I could turn it into a deck. As a more offense focused deck I went a smidge lighter on creature removal, but what I did give it is some flexibility on getting rid of other permanents. The Aspirant, Eidolon and Lance all help enable continued Mentoring, just remember to stack it right so the Training goes on the bottom of the stack since it doesn't check the power when it resolves.
It's the only green Investigate card in the set, so ya know what, I'm pushing this deck. Taking on an extra color is a bit of a downside, after all.
With the new Skaab options I took a while considering whether I wanted to use the Exploit ones, but using Exploit DOES put specifically a creature in the bin to guarantee fuel for the ones that need one to exile as an additional cost.
With Persistent Specimen providing another piece of repeating sac-fuel I figured the deck would do with another piece of somewhat limited removal.
Made a few changes, it might yet see more as Crimson Vow reveals go on, though I've not seen that un-codeworded Morbid that I expected yet.
Edit: Oops, that was supposed to be a Nested Shambler instead of a second Vermin Gorger.
Added the Angelic, Offering, Scraps and Gizmos decks. More to come along with an update or two to existing ones.
I need to bolster removal a bit and here's the first step.
Aggressive Instinct into Landfall
Angelic Purge into Valor
I have a feeling that Crimson Vows will support Morbid, either with keyword or not, so this one is very much a "sketch", I won't be compiling it until after the spoilers.
That's the rest of the 34, not 35 as I'd originally miscounted, packs added. I'd love to hear what you think. I'll be doing new ones as I go.
I've added the first few packs and will be adding more soon, I have a total of 35 ready and this first bunch is a mix of earlier and later ones, the first put together about a year ago.
